Ayres, daughter of William Henry "Willie" Ayres and Bertha Marie Everett, on July 5, 1945.1 Harold Francis "Hank" Adair died on October 26, 2012 at Boise, Ada Co., Idaho, at age 89.1,2 He Harold Francis Adair, Lt. Col. USMC (Ret.) 1922 - 2012 Harold (Hank) Francis Adair, 89, of Boise, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012, with family by his side. Hank was born October 31, 1922, in Penrose, Colorado, to Jesse and Ethel Adair. The family moved to Emmett, Idaho in 1927. He met Lorraine (Chick) Ayres in 1939 at Emmett High School. Lorraine was "just one of his sister's friends." Hank graduated from high school in 1940, and in November of that year joined the United States Marine Corps. He attended Colorado College from 1943 - 1945, and received a promotion to 2nd Lieutenant in 1945. 1945 proved to be a good year for Lt. Adair; he came home on leave and married Chick. Hank and Chick, the love of his life, were married July 5, 1945, and spent 67-years loving and caring for one another. He later attended the College of Idaho where he graduated with a degree in business administration in 1962. Hank retired from the Marine Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel in July 1964, after which he went to work as a manager for Knoxage Water in San Diego, California until 1980, when he and Chick returned to their Idaho roots. Hank loved to fly, earning his commercial pilot's license in 1970. Hank and Chick enjoyed a great deal of travel, but the family's favorite tradition was started by the couple in 1966, the annual family reunion. The whole family gathered in the mountains for one week every year. Whether it was Lowman, Warm Lake, Donnelly or Cascade, those weeks hold priceless family adventures and memories for five generations of family. Hank was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Arthur, his brother-in-law Jack Smidt, and his niece Susan Moore. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine (Chick); daughter, Linda Walker; three sons, William, David, and James; six grandchildren, Cynthia (Mike) Reid, Robert Walker, Kristin Adair, Chelsea Sidone, and Alissa and Gianna Adair; one great-granddaughter, Kayla Walker; sister, Evelyn Smidt (of Coolidge, Arizona) and her children, JoAnne Kent, Janice (Pat) Cockrill, Robert (Teri) Smidt, and Julia (Bob) Cockrill; and sister-in-law, Martha Adair (of Tucson, Arizona) and her children, Ronald (Karen), Harold R. (Debbie), and Carol Ann (Ron) King. A graveside service with military honors was held on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Star Cemetery, Star, Idaho. on November 11, 2012.1
