Mr. Lewis was a Greene County native but lived most of his life in Washington County. His was the son of the late Joseph Franklin “JF” and Anna Holt Lewis; he was also preceded in death by his wife Edna Reed Lewis, and son Donald Lewis, and granddaughter Nancy Lewis. Mr. Lewis was of the Baptist Faith. He was also a lifelong farmer. Survivors include a son Billy Joe Lewis, Johnson City; daughters, Pat Kyker (LeRoy), Telford, Linda Babcock, Greeneville, and Joan Lewis, Limestone; grandchildren, Ann Bailey, (Jerry), Tammy Ford, Allen Kyker, (Penny), Tim Lewis, Rebecca Cutshall, (Warren), and Jolin Hawk, (Eric); great grandchildren, Tessa Rouse, (Dan), Kiaya Hopkins, (Robbie), Austin Hale, Addison Kyker, Lucas Hawk, and Lydia Hawk, Amber Hamilton, Ashley Strickland, and Eli Cutshall; sisters, Helen Kyker, and Margaret Jaynes; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Mr. Lewis will be at Urbana Cemetery in Limestone. Mary Virginia Lewis Mary Virginia Crane, 84, of Life Care Center of Greeneville, passed away Friday, September 28, 2012, at Life Care Center of Greeneville. She was retired from Greene Valley Development Center. Mrs. Crane was a charter member of Limestone Free Will Baptist Church where she was very active in church activities as long as her health permitted. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law: Richard and Kathy Crane of Chuckey; grandchildren: Jason Crane and wife, Christy, Jacob Crane and wife, Heather; great grandchildren: Katie Crane, Ethan Crane, Kayden Crane, all of Chuckey; a brother: J. D. Lewis of Limestone; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Helen Kyker, Margaret and Tom Jaynes, all of Limestone; several nieces and nephews with whom she was very close. She was the daughter of the late J. F. and Anna Holt Lewis and was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Crane; three brothers, Cecil, Oradory and Ray Lewis. Interment will be at Limestone FWB Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Crane, Jacob Crane, Chris Blake, Gay Crane, Alvin Arwood and Dwight Mitchell. Mrs. Jaynes was born in Washington County and the daughter of the late Joseph & Anna Holt Lewis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Thomas Jaynes, Jr. and six brothers and sisters. She was a member of Limestone Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church. Her enjoyment in life was her grandchildren and church. Mrs. Jaynes was a Resident Aide at Green Valley Development Center. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, David & Elizabeth A. "She devoted her whole life to loving and helping everyone she met. She loved her nieces, nephews and pets with her every breath," her family stated. Survivors, in addition to her parents, include two sisters and brothers-in-law: Ann and Jerry Bailey and Becky and Warren Cutshall, all of Limestone; her special nieces and nephews: Amber and Brian Hamilton, Ashley Brookshire, Tyler Strickland, Colby Brookshire, Tony Strickland, Michael Hamilton, and Elijah Cutshall, all of Limestone; her grandfather: J.D. Lewis of Limestone; and special friends: Judy Archer and Patty Tittle. She had four special pets: "Cody," "Rusty," "Simone," and "Alley." A committal service will be held in Urbana Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Warren Cutshall, Brian Hamilton, Tyler Strickland, Joe Archer, Russell Lowe, and Jerry Bailey. Lewis, 72, of Limestone, earned his angel wings on November 14, 2020, at Franklin Woods Hospital. Charlie was a loving husband of 46 years to Carolyn Taylor Lewis. He was a wonderful father, granddaddy, brother and uncle. Charlie graduated from Washington College Academy in 1966 and earned a degree in fire science from Walters State Community College. He served in numerous capacities in local and state fire associations. It was his passion for the fire-fighting that led him to his career as an instructor and training coordinator with the Tennessee Fire Academy. Charlie was a well-known and well-respected advocate and mentor for the Fire Fighters' Brotherhood. In addition to his wife, Charlie is survived by a son, Stephen (Carrie) Lewis of Limestone, a daughter, Kelly (John) Lemmons of New Market, four grandchildren, Carter Lewis, Eli Lewis, Samuel Lemmons and Rachel Lemmons, two sisters, Jane (Donnie) Bailey and Judy (Joe) Archer, a sister-in-law, Rebecca Taylor, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ordray "Bingham" and Dorothy Baldwin Lewis. Charlie was an active member of the Salem Presbyterian Church. He served as an elder, deacon and trustee. Charlie was also a lifetime member of the Limestone Volunteer Fire Department and served as a former fire chief. Graveside service will be at Salem Cemetery. on November 18, 2020.3
