Born March 3, 1923, at Ingleside, he was the son of the late John and Lula Cooper Terry. He was educated in Mercer County, was a veteran of World War II, and the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army for more than 13 years. Mr. Terry had a career with the Norfolk & Western and the Norfolk Southern railways spanning over 30 years, retiring in 1985 as a mechanic. He was a member of the maintenance of ways. He was a member of the First Church of God on Mahood Avenue in Princeton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Pauline Terry, Juanita Harry, Joyce Brinkley, Wayne Terry and John Terry Jr. Those left to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife of 29 years, Virginia Brinkley Terry, three step-children whom he helped raise and loved as his own children, Teresa Kirk Meadows and husband, Jeff, Rodney Mullins and wife, Sandy, all of Princeton, Doug Mullins and wife Toni, of Midlothian, Va; four grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Nolan and Timothy Mullins of Princeton, Aleah and Alex Mullins of Midlothian. He was known as "Grandpa Jim" to Rebecca Skeens, daughter of Gilbert and Pamela Skeens; and his faithful dog, "Lucky." Additional survivors include brothers and sisters, Edna Terry of Oakvale, Penny Hubbard of Salisbury, Md., Kirby Terry and wife, Margie of Ada, Jack Terry and Yvonne of Johnson City, Tenn., and Tommy Terry in the Hidden Valley Care Center near Oak Hill. We will celebrate the life of Jim Terry Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at 11 a.m., from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Gary Swogger officiating. Entombment will follow in the chapel of the Wildwood Mausoleum, Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family today from 4 to 6 p.m., at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Gilbert and James Skeens, Freddie Reynolds, Curtis Brinkley, Jerry Harry and Willard Duncan. The family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton. on August 9, 2004.3

He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen and a former member of the Princeton Elks Lodge No. 1459 and the Princeton Moose Lodge No. 1521. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a paratrooper with the U.S. Army. He was a very loving and devoted husband and father. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Juanita Harry and Pauline Terry; and one brother, Wayne Terry. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Betty Jean Robertson Terry of Princeton; one daughter, Donna Jackson of Princeton; two granddaughters, Lisa Williams and Julie Jackson; four brothers, Jimmy Terry and wife, Virginia, J.D. Terry, Kirby Terry and wife, Margie, and Tommy Terry; and three sisters, Edna Terry, Joyce Brinkley and husband, William, and Penny Hubbard. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Dr. David Dockery officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Friends will serve as pallbearers. on October 2, 2002.5

Born May 2, 1932 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late John A. and Lula Cooper Terry. She retired in 1986 from the Dietary Department of St. Luke's Hospital in Bluefield. She was a member of the Oakvale United Methodist Church and had been a lifelong resident of the Oakvale area. In addition to her parents, three sisters, Pauline Terry, Joyce Brinkley and Juanita Harry; and three brothers, Wayne Terry, James Terry and John A. Terry Jr. preceded her in death. Survivors include one sister, Penny Sue Hubbard of Salisburg, Md; three brothers, Kirby Terry and wife Margie of Princeton, Jack Terry and wife Evon of Johnson City, Tenn. and William Thomas "Tommy" Terry of Oak Hill; one sister-in-law, Virginia Terry of Athens; and special nephew, Randall Harry of Oakvale. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Friday (today), January 4, 2008 at the G.E. Davis Chapel of Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale with Pastor Bill Crawford officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until the service hour on Friday (today). Interment will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the Oakvale Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Those attending the interment on Saturday are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:45 a.m. Fredeking Funeral Service in Oakvale is serving the Terry family. on January 5, 2008.4

Brinkley; one son, William Guy Brinkley; two brothers, John A. Terry Jr. and Wayne Terry; and two sisters, Pauline Terry and Juanita Harry preceded her in death. Survivors include one son, Lee Allen Brinkley and wife, Darlene of Oakvale; two daughters, Darla Lester and husband, David of Cheesy Creek Road and Paula Sue Brinkley of Oakvale; five grandchildren, Davina Clyburn, Victor Lester, Matthew Brinkley, Jamie Brinkley and Joey Brinkley; two great-grandchildren, Jace Clyburn and Dakota Brinkley; four brothers, James Terry and wife, Virginia of Athens, Kirby Terry and wife, Margie of Ada, Jack Terry and wife, Evon of Johnson City, Tenn., and Tom Terry of Oak Hill; and two sisters, Edna Terry of Oakvale and Penny Sue Hubbard of Salisburg, Md.
