Whitehill in September, 1885.3,5 Martha Arathusia Porter died on November 13, 1907 at Limestone, Clarion Co., Pennsylvania, at age 41.3,4 She Mrs. Arathusia Porter Whitehill, wife of W. A. Whitehill, died at her home in Limestone township, near Kingsville, on Wednesday night, November 13, aged 41 years and 12 days. Mrs. Whitehill was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Porter, and was born at Scotch Hill, Pa., November 1, 1866. In September, 1885, she was united in marriage to William A. Whitehill, of Limestone township, and her married life was all passed in the vicinity of the home where she died. She is survived by her husband and eight children, also by three sisters, viz: Ada Gallant, of Oklahoma; Mamie Fruber, of Wiikinsburg; and Josephine Porter, of Seattle, Wash. Mrs. Whitehill was a woman of many excellent qualities. She was a devoted wife and mother, and will be sadly missed from her home. In early life she united with the Presbyterian church at Corsica and retained her membership until her death. The interment took place at Corsica on Friday, the services being conducted by Rev. Richard of the M. E. church. on November 21, 1907.3

H. and Malissa Whitehill Porter, died while on his way to work Saturday, December 31, 1904, at Renton, Washington. He was born March 7, 1868, at Scotch Hill, Pa., where he made his home for several years after which he lived in various places throughout the county and was for several years a resident of Clarion. The funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterain church in Renton, Jan., 2, 1905, and the interment was made in the cemetery at that place. He is survived ty four sisters. His mother died on the evening of the day on which his funeral services were conducted. The bereaved ones have the sympathy of their many Clarion county friends and relatives. on January 12, 1905.5

Whitehill died on November 30, 1948 at Summerville, Jefferson Co., Pennsylvania, at age 88.3,4 He William A. Whitehill, of Summerville died at his home on Summerville R.D. 2, Tuesday, November 30, 1948, at the age of eighty-eight years, four months and nineteen days. Death was caused by infirmities of age following a lingering illness. Born in Millcreek township, Clarion county, July 11, 1860, William Whitehill was the son of Barton and Mary (Allison) Whitehill. He was married to Arthus Porter and later to Anna McGlowlin, both of whom are deceased. A well known farmer, he had lived his entire life in the vicinity of Summerville. He was a member of the Presbyterian church at Corsica. Surviving are these five children: Mrs. Kathryn Greenawalt, of Coolspring; Mrs. Willa Yeany, of Mayport; Mrs. Alice Thompson, of Falconer, N.Y; Mrs. Hazel Ashbaugh, of Mayport, and Richard G. Whitehill, of Corsica. Funeral services will be held today, December 2, at 2:30 p.m., at Stoner Funeral Home in Summerville, with Rev. A. J. Renwick officiating. Interment will be in Corsica cemetery. on December 2, 1948.4

Mrs. Greenawalt was born June 29, 1886, in Kingsville, Pa., the daughter of the late William and Arthusa Porter Whitehill. She had been a resident of the Cooksburg area for more than 50 years. Mrs. Greenawalt was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Cook, in 1933. In 1943 she was married to John Greenawalt, who preceded her in death in 1952. One daughter, Thelma, died in 1943. Surviving are: Six daughters, Lucille Motter, Clarington, Pa., Arthusa Davis, Clarion; Melissa Reabold, Silverdale, Pa; Imogene Swaton, Bedford, O; Aletha Sleppy, Cooksburg, Doris Bauer, Lucinda. Three sons, Delbert Cook, Cooksburg; Milo Cook, Leeper, Donald Cook, Bedford, O. Four sisters, Mrs. William Yeaney, Mayport, Pa; Mrs. Alice Thompson, Randolph, N.Y; Mrs. Hazel Eshbaugh, Summerville, and Priscilla Hetrick, Mayport, Pa; and one brother, Richard Whitehill, North East. Other survivors include 40 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. on August 8, 1960.2

The deceased, an employee of the Hartford Brothers, pipeline constructors, was born in Clarington in 1924, the son of Frank M. and Roberta (Whitehill) Motter. He marked his 31st birthday anniversary just 26 days ago on January 3. Unmarried, he is survived by his parents and the following brothers and sisters: Richard Motter, of Marienville; Mrs. Virginia Howard, of Eden, N.Y; Mrs. Loleta Himes, of Slgel; Mrs. Mildred Rankus, of Buffalo, N.Y., William Motter, serving with the U. S. Air Force in France, and Clair Motter, serving with the U. S. Army at Atlanta, Ga. A veteran of World War II, the deceased served, with the U. S. Navy. Two passengers in the automobile were injured. Royce Braden, age 33, of Clarington Star Ronte, received a laceration of the head and possible internal injuries, and Marion W. Motter, age 60, of Clarington, received fractures of the ribs and possible internal injuries. Both were taken to the Kane Hospital. The accident was investigated by State Police of the Tionesta sub-station. They say Motter apparently lost control of the car when it went off the highway and skidded on the icy berm. The auto crashed into a snow bank and then into a utility pole. Motter was thrown from the car in the process. Funeral services were held Monday, February 1, at 2:00 p.m. from the Reitz Funeral Home in Brookville. The Rev. Richard Snyder, pastor of the Sigel Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was in Daniels Cemetery in Barnett township, Jefferson county, near Sigel. on February 3, 1955.4

Motter, 57, of Marienville died at 7:13 p.m. Monday April 5, 1982 at Kane Community Hospital after a sudden illness. Born January 25, 1925, in Clarington, he was the son of Frank M. and Lucille Whitehill Motter. He was married May 25, 1947 to Neva Fiscus, who survives. Mr. Motter was a member of the Marienville United methodist Church, Acacia Masonic Lodge of Marienville, Coudersport Consistory and the Marienville Area Civic Association. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a gunners mate third class on the USS Remey. Mr. Motter earned 11 battle-stars durning action in the South Pacific. He was employed as a machinist for 39 years with Glass Containers Corp. in Marienville.Surviving along with his wife are: a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Galye) Mansfield of Emporium: a son David Motter of New Galilee; and five grandchildsons, Kyle, Brett and Dick Mansfield, and Mattew and Chad Motter. Also surviving are: three sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Virginia) Howard of Clarion, Mrs. Robert (Loleta) Himes of Sigel,and Mrs. George (Mildred) Rankus of Angola N.Y; and two brothers, William Motter of Marienville and Clair Motter of Clarington RD. Mr. Motter was preseded in death by his parents; a brother, Walter in 1975; and a grandson in 1972. The Ronald McDonald Funeral Home in Marienville were in charge of services. Rev. Russell Motter, retired Methodist minister and Rev. Melvin Hedagor of Marienville United methodist Church officiated. Burial was in North Forest Cemetery in Marienville. on April 7, 1982.7

Mrs. Himes was married in Brookville July 10, 1946, to Robert L. Himes, who survives. Also surviving are five sons and their wives, Robert L. Jr. and Winnie Himes, Gerald E. and Shirley Himes and Michael W. and Karen Himes, all of Brookville, Samuel R. and Patty Himes of Irwin and Stephen D. and Carol Himes of Sigel; one daughter and her husband, Mary E. and Lee Greeley of Brookville; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by a brother and his wife, Frank Clair and Carolyn Motter of Brookville; and a sister, Mildred Rankus of Angola, N.Y. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Himes was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy Motter, William Motter and Walter Motter; one sister, Virginia Howard; one grandson, Jason Himes; and one granddaughter, Michelle Himes. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today in the McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Sheesley officiating. Interment will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery, Sigel. Memorials may be made to the Sigel United Methodist Church, Sigel, 15860. on April 28, 2004.3
