He was preceded in death by his wife, Mackie Hall in 1969. Survivors include a daughter, Sue Ellen Francisco of Beaver, a grandson Michael Aiden Gunnoe of Beaver, whom he reared; a stepson, Robert Hall of Beaver; two sisters, Estie Blevins of Beckley and Artie Lilly of Virginia; two brothers, Homer Gunnoe of Pittsburgh Pa. and Addy Gunnoe of Beckley; one additional grandchild and five great-grandchildren. Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Beaver Methodist Church with the Revs. Ted Lilly and John Sauvage officiating. Burial will be in the Blue Jay Cemetery. Friends may call today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Calfee Funeral Home in Beckley and at the church one hour prior to services. Pallbearers will be John Pate, Henry Lilly, Woodrow Canterbury, Terry Stewart, Lawson Reed and Robert Akers.1

Gwendolyn was born February 28, 1914 in Blue Jay, WV to Isaiah Preston Hall and Rachel Ann Cox Hall. In addition to her parents, Gwendolyn is preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters. Miss Hall worked most of her life outside the home caring for others. She began working in private homes at the age of 14. Miss Hall passed away in the home of her niece in St. Albans, WV. Most of her career was spent working in Washington, DC for the former U.S. Senator and Mrs. Harley M. Kilgore from Beckley, WV. After Senator Kilgore passed away she remained in the employ of his wife, Lois. She spent over 35 years with the Kilgore family before returning to Beckley. Miss Hall never married nor had children of her own. Gwen was a soft spoken, caring person that could light up a room with her smile. If you knew her you loved her. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers and to Kanawha Valley Hospice. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Rev. Dean Adams and Brother Glen Ray Smith officiating. Friends may gather with the family Thursday from 1:00 PM until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.5 She was born on February 28, 1914 at Blue Jay, Raleigh Co., West Virginia.5,6 She died on January 10, 2010 at St. Albans, Kanawha Co., West Virginia, at age 95.5,6

Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maude Lilly at home; two children, Loretta and Wanda Mae, also at home; and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Virgie Lilly, Mount View, Miss Juanita Lilly, Cool Ridge; James Lilly, Mount View; Wiley Lilly, Cool Ridge; and Pvt. Oppie Lilly who is stationed at Camp Pinedale, Calif. The body will remain at the Calfee Funeral home until 4 p.m. tomorrow when it will be removed to the residence. The Rev. Owen Lilly will officiate at the services which will be held at 2 p.m. at the home. Burial will follow in the family cemetery at Cool Ridge. on December 11, 1945.4

Pennington of Lynchburg; sisters, Hazel Williams of Pearisburg and Mildred Burk of Princeton, W. Va; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Born May 19, 1917, in Bluefield, she was the daughter of the late Gratton “Grat” Burk and Edith Hearn Burk.Having grown up in Bluefield, she lived their until 1944, when she moved to Princeton. Ms. Burk had worked for the Celanese Corporation in Narrows, Virginia for more than 41 years, retiring in 1982. While her health permitted, she was an active member of the Kee Street United Methodist Church in Princeton; she was also a member of Willing Workers Sunday School Class, the Wesleyan Service Guild and served with different committees within the Church. She loved her neighbors on Wickham Avenue, and her church family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Burk and Kyle Burk along with a sister, Helen Lilly. Survivors: Her last sibling, Hazel Williams of Troutville, Virginia; her dear friend and caregiver, Sue Lucas and her family, whom were loving, giving and caring for her, every day, for many years. On Thursday, March 5, 2009, at 1:00 p.m., we will celebrate the life of Ms. Mildred Burk from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Tom Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Bluefield. Family and friends will gather for a time of sharing on Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home or may leave online condolences at www.memorialfd.com.
