Walters Jr. and Verbena Dickerson Walters on August 25, 1945. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clayton L. Bartlett, brother Kelly B. Walters and sister-in-law Virginia Gerald Walters. Shirley is survived by her ex-husband Billy S. Baker; son William (Willie) Baker; special sister Norma Jean Walters; step-son Todd Allen Bartlett; step-daughters Sharon Baker (John); Sheila Coffield (Matt) and nieces Nancy Jo Walters and Melissa Poff Shonkwiler. Shirley graduated from Christiansburg High School class of 1963. She worked four months at Blue Ridge Overall Co. Graduated from Hollywood School of Beauty Culture in Roanoke in 1964. She worked at Corner Beauty Shop and then Diane’s-Merle Norman until 1980. She then worked at Poly Scientific (Moog) until 2008. During retirement she finished her working careers with Montgomery County school system in 2014.⁶ She was born on August 25, 1945 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^3,4,5,6 As of October 16, 1965,her married name was McGuire.⁵ She married Bobby Lewis McGuire on October 16, 1965 at York, York Co., South Carolina.⁵ Shirley Ann Walters and Bobby Lewis McGuire were divorced on June 17, 1971 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.⁵ As of February 12, 1972,her married name was Baker.³ Shirley Ann Walters married Billy Snoman Baker on February 12, 1972 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^3,6 Shirley Ann Walters and Billy Snoman Baker were divorced on August 19, 1985 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.⁵ As of August 25, 2006,her married name was Bartlett.³ Shirley Ann Walters married Clayton Luther "C.      Evelyn Virginia Wagner Evelyn Wagner Graham, a long-time resident of Smith Mountain Lake, in Goodview, passed this Wednesday, June 3, 2015. Born in 1926 in East Beckley, W.Va., Evelyn had five siblings, Helen, Hazel, Kenneth, Bill, and Everet, Jr. Evelyn was a dedicated stenographer at the VA Hospital in Salem for over 30 years, following homemaking and the raising of her daughters. She taught Sunday School and was an active member at Villa Heights Baptist Church. Evelyn was a voracious reader, devoted herself to the raising of her children and grandchildren, loved traveling, movies, playing cards, cooking and socializing with life-long friends and family. Evelyn had a sweet smile, twinkling eyes, and a big heart. Her easy, kind demeanor endeared her to all. Evelyn is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years and the love of her life, Basil Graham; one sister, Hazel Gregory, of Tallahassee Fla., and two daughters. Evelyn's daughters, Velvet Hammond and husband, David, and Anne Sumpter reside in Roanoke. Evelyn is also survived by four adoring grandchildren, Scott Hammond, Stacey Hammond Beard, Graham Sumpter, all of Roanoke and James Sumpter, of Little Rock, Ark. and three great grandchildren, Lyle, Lauren and Grayson. "Hade" Conner and Virginia Arrista "Rissie" Clemmons, on September 20, 1914 at Mercer Co., West Virginia.^1,3 Oakey "Okey" Meadows died on October 25, 1948 at Baltimore, Maryland, at age 56.^4,5 He Funeral arrangements are incomplete for Oakey Meadows, 56-year old deputy sheriff in Slab Fork District who died yesterday in Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Md. He had gone to the hospital for brain surgery. The body will be returned here today. Meadows, who was a Mason and an Elk, is survived by his widow, Mrs. Carrie Meadows, three daughters, one son, seven brothers and four sisters. The daughters and son are Mrs. Virginia Calvert, Miss Elzia Meadows and Tommy Meadows, all of Princewick, and Mrs. Frazier Gill of Walkertown. The seven surviving brothers include Golden Meadows, Princewick; Clinton Meadows and Fred Meadows, Beckley; Wiley Meadows and Milton Meadows, Winding Gulf; Thomas Meadows, Miami and Willis Meadows, Coal City. The four sisters are Mrs. Easter Crouch, Piney View; Mrs. Bessie Gross, East Gulf, Mrs. Virie Fleshman, Winding Gulf, and Miss Donna Meadows, Coal City. on October 26, 1948.⁴

He was dead on arrival at a Beckley hospital at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday after a short illness. Born at Mabscott on May 3, 1924, he was a son of Mrs. Carrie Conner Meadows and the late Oakey Meadows. He was a retired miner and a member of UMWA Local 6109 at East Gulf and a member of the Ancient Free and accepted Manson Mountain Lodge No. 156 at Coal City. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Joyce Cantley Meadows; one son, Harold Lloyd (Butch) of Coal City; one brother, Donald L. of Coal City; one sister, Mrs. Virginia Calvert of Princewick; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Willie Meadows of Shady Spring; one grandchild. His son, Harold Lloyd (Butch) preceded him in death. Members of the Mountain Lodge will conduct graveside rites and serve as casketbearers. Bora July 29, 1929 at Princewick, she was a daughter of Mrs. Carrie Conners Meadows, Princewick, and the late Oakey Meadows. Mrs. Gill was a Missionary Baptist. Other survivors include her husband, Frazier, Coal City; a daughter, Mrs. David (Vicki) Nelson, Coal City; a sister, Mrs. Jethro (Virginia) Calvert, Princewick, and two brothers, Elzie and Donald, City. Pallbearers will be Grant Richmond, Ferman Walker, Albert Cole Jr., Gary and Okey Calvert and Harold Meadows. on August 10, 1973.⁴

He was a tipple foreman for Westmoreland Coal Co. and a member of Trout Valley Primitive Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge 156, Coal City. Surviving: sons, Gary of Coal City, Oakey of Lerona; brothers, F.G. and Obie, both of Oneonta, Ala; sisters, Gladys Whittington and Alma Smith, both of Oneonta; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
