Joyce is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth Davis and her husband, Norman, of Beckley, West Virginia; and a brother, Mr. Sonny Clay and his wife, Shirley, of Stanardsville, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Golf (Mary) Clay of Beckley, West Virginia; and a brother, Mr. Nathan "Buddy" Clay and his wife, Jean, of Lodi, California. Joyce and Max had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in May of 2008. Joyce was a Registered Nurse and worked at the Pine Crest Tuberculosis Hospital in Beckley, West Virginia, and at the Blue Ridge Tuberculosis Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. She retired from nursing in 1970. Max and Joyce have lived in Fort Myers, Florida, since 1997, after many years in Stanardsville, Virginia. Joyce has always been very active in her church and her hobbies and crafts. She spent many hours oil painting, line dancing, crafting, fishing, and boating throughout her life.
