Mr. Sigmon was retired from Slab Fork Coal Co., was a member of the UMW Local No. 6869, Princeton Moose Lodge No. 1521 and the Princeton Old Guard. He had lived in Princeton since 1959, coming from Athens. He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers. Survivors include his wife, Wanda French Sigmon; a son, Jarrell Raymond Sigmon of Hickory, N.C; a daughter, Mrs. David (Debbie) Nuckolls of Pleasantville, Iowa; two grandsons, Jeffrey Scott Sigmon and Rob R. Sigmon. Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the George W. Seaver Funeral Home Chapel in Princeton with Pastor David Nuckolls and Dr. David Dockery officiating. Burial will be in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens at Princeton. Friends may call today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Deacons of the church along with Tom Biggs, Clarence Bowden, Clyde Pennington, Clarence Taylor, Elwood Blankenship, Joe Moody and Bob Crowder. on March 6, 1991.4

Born at Stone, Ky., Feb. 4, 1919, he was a son of the late Artis and Mary Johnson Sigmon. Sigmon had lived in Beckley the past three years, living most of his life in Wyoming County. He had also lived in Alderson for eight years. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Mabscott, a World War II veteran, a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. Surviving are his wife, Eileen Collinsworth Sigmon; a son, Ordie Jr., Beckley; two daughters, Mrs. Shirley Arndt, Beckley, and Miss Brenda Sigmon, at home; three brothers, Raymond, Princeton, Charles, Oak Hill and Henry, Radcliffe, Ky; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Hodge, Charleston and Mrs. Myrtle Damewood, Seminole, Fla; and two grandchildren. A son, Gene Raymond, died in 1971. Services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel with the Rev. L. A. Garten in charge with burial to be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. on May 13, 1977.3

     Maymon Ellot "Mike" Sigmon was born on December 17, 1923 at Rocky Mount, Franklin Co., Virginia.2,3,11,5 He married Dorothy Naomi Barbour on October 8, 1948.12,1,2 Maymon Ellot "Mike" Sigmon died on August 15, 2008 at Franklin Co., Virginia, at age 84.1,11,4 He Maymon Ellot (Mike) Sigmon, 84, of Rocky Mount, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 15, 2008. Mr. Sigmon proudly served his country in the Army 3rd Infantry Division in World War ll's European Campaign. His war decorations include the Combat Infantry Badge, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart and the French Croix de Guerre. He was also the recipient of Rocky Mount Rotary Club's Patriot Award. He was Past Commander of the Rocky Mount American Legion, as well as past president of the local Lions' Club. He served many years as an assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts Troop 30. Mike was a long time masonry contractor, he and his family built many homes and businesses in and around Franklin County. Mr. Sigmon was born in Rocky Mount, Va., to the late Lorton Ephraim and Blanche Sigmon. He was married to the former Dorothy Barbour. In addition to his wife of 59 years, Mike is survived by three children, son, Michael Dean Sigmon Sr. and his wife, Diane; son, Alan Neil Sigmon and his wife, Sheri; and daughter, Marsha Sigmon Stafford and her husband, Rick. His eight grandchildren are Tyler McKibbin Sigmon, Alan Wynn Sigmon, Cody Alexander Sigmon, Sarah Burke Sigmon, Michael Dean Sigmon Jr., Marcus Dean Sigmon, Mary Deane Sigmon and Kristin Stafford. A special uncle, Robert (Goldie) Buckner; and siblings, Conrad (Marge) Sigmon, Jesse (Nadine) Sigmon, Edward (Joy) Sigmon, Ray (Mary Jane) Sigmon, Opal (H.M.) Davis and Mary Frances (Ronnie) Bennett; also survive him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Bedford D-Day Memorial, P.O. Box 77, Bedford, Va. 24523 or a charity of one's choice. Lynch Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Ave., Rocky Mount, Va., is serving the Sigmon family. on August 16, 2008.1

Born November 23, 1925 in Rocky Mount, VA, he was the son of the late Lorton and Blanche (Buckner) Sigmon. He was the beloved husband of Margaret (Frock) Sigmon, his wife of 52 years.      Opal Dunree Sigmon Opal Sigmon Davis, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at her home at the age of 86. Mrs. Davis was born on March 2, 1929, a daughter of the late Lorton E. Sigmon and Blanche Buckner Sigmon. She was also preceded in death by husband of 67 years H. M. “Dick” Davis and one brother, Mike Sigmon. Opal is survived by three children, Patricia “Pat” Duer (Doug) Bassett, VA; Ronald I. (Ronnie) Davis (Evelynne) Rocky Mount, VA; and Richard Davis (Charis) Seymour, TN. Four grandchildren, Keith Thompson (Vickie) Middletown, DE; Erica Davis Milgrim, Christiansburg, VA; Christopher J. Davis (Nickie) Seymour, TN; and Logan A. Davis, Seymour, TN. Opal is also survived by one sister, Mary Frances Bennett (Ronnie), Rocky Mount, VA; and four brothers, Conrad Sigmon (Marge) Manchester, MD; Jesse Sigmon (Nadine) Rocky Mount, VA; Edward Sigmon (Joy) Greensboro, NC; Ray Sigmon (MaryJane) Rocky Mount, VA and many nieces and nephews. Opal was a Master Seamstress as well as a retired Supervisor with Burlington Industries. She was well known for making prom gowns for Franklin County High School students and for making beautiful clothes worn by her family. Opal also was extremely proud of the bright homemade shirts she made for her husband Dick. The family would like to extend a sincere appreciation to the Franklin County Department of Public Safety for their unending care and compassion shown while at the home. Funeral services will be conducted from Conner-Bowman Funeral Home Chapel 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 28, 2015 with Pastor Joe Dillon officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. "Dick" Davis, 89, passed away on Monday 24, 2014 at his home with family present. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, William I. Davis and Blanche Shrader Davis; one brother, Carl E. Davis; and four sisters, Helen Chitwood, Wilda Chitwood, Hazel Wilmer and Alice Deise Page. Dick was a Master Craftsman in his trade of Brick Masonry. He was selected to lay the last bricks laid on the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He also laid the bricks in the tunnel connecting the parking garage to the hospital. Dick was also proud of each one of his bright one of a kind homemade shirts made by his wife Opal. The Davis family would like to extend their deep appreciation to Amedisys Hospice for their wonderful staff and their attention during the past several weeks. Our Mother was a very loving, kind person and she was given back that same love by all who knew her. Mom managed to keep her sweet disposition and her wonderful smile even as she struggled with the final stages of Alzheimer's disease. A Graveside Service will be conducted 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2011, in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton by the Rev. Ron Young.
