She was known for talents as a seamstress, from making draperies to making the finest details on a homemade doll. She was also very creative at a wide range of crafts. Verna Lee was greatly loved by her husband of over 50 years, Jack Foster, who preceded her in death in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings. Left to cherish her memory are loving children, Steve Foster (Gretchen) of Pinch and Susan Foster-Harper (Gene) of Versailles, Ky; grandchildren, Brent Foster (Stephanie) of Charleston and David Foster of Bridgeport; and great-granddaughter, Hailey Foster at home. Born Aug. 20, 1929, at Riverside, he was the son of the late Vernie and Cora Mane Morris McClure. He also was preceded in death by his former and mother of his children, Jean McClure; and four bothers and sisters. Mr. McClure was formerly employed at Riverton Coal Company with 34 years of service and was retired from Central Appalachian Coal Company. He was a member of the UMWA and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, spending 19 months in Korea. He was a member of Crown Hill Baptist Church in Crown Hill and he attended Handley Baptist Church. Surviving: daughters, Yvonne Henline and her husband, Mike, of Buckhannon and Tammy Skaggs and her husband, Shawn, of Victor; wife, Joanna Burke McClure; sister, Verna Lee Foster of East Bank; grandchildren, Jason Payne, Jennifer Brown and her fiancé, Justin, and Matt Skaggs; several stepgrandchildren and step-greatgrandchildren; and stepchildren, Ann Samples and her husband, Jim, of Nitro, Jerry "Butch" Filbin and his wife, Debbie, of East Bank, and Randi Lynn Bragg and her husband, Bob, of South Charleston. Service was April 4 at O'Dell Funeral Home, Montgomery, with Rev. Carll Pomeroy and Rev. Lewis Villers officiating. Burial followed in Montgomery Memorial Park at London with military honors. on April 7, 2011.⁵

He was employed as a car man for CSX Railroad for 41 years and retired in 1986. He served as city Councilman, and later served as Mayor of East Bank in 1963. He was a longtime member of The East Bank United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Verna, of East Bank; son, Steven Foster and wife Gretchen of Pinch; daughter, Susan Foster-Harper and husband Gene of Lexington, Ky; and grandchildren, Brent Foster and wife Stephanie of Charleston, and David Foster, currently residing in Morgantown. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, at Pryor Funeral Home, East Bank, with Pastor Don Dobbins officiating. Visitation will be two hours before the service at the funeral home.      Jean Jeanette Myers Jean Jeanette McClure, 89, of Riverside died Thursday February 2, 2017, in her home surrounded by family, after a short illness. She was the fifth of eight children. Jean, in her younger years worked at A+P and Coppers. She enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, flower gardening, and spending time with all her grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Rookie; her parents Helen and Earl Myers; three sisters and four brothers; and her grandson David McClure. Jean is survived by six children, Doug McClure of Glasgow, Donna Burdette of Riverside, Richard & Diana McClure of Riverside, David & Donna of Pratt, Jeff McClure of Riverside, Brad Thomas of East Bank; her grandchildren, Jennifer Daniels, Carrie Stewart, Tara McCallister, Telisha McClure, Tiffany Keenan, Nelson McClure, Brandon McCormick; and 15 great grandchildren. Per Jean's wishes, there will be no visitation.
