He was a member of the Pierpoint Freewill Baptist Church where he had the honor of being a Deacon, Choir Leader, Trustee, and Sunday school Superintendent until November 2013. Jesse as a young man also had the honor of pulling out the nails of used lumber which was donated by Ritter Saw Mill to help build Pierpoint Church. Oakey J. Tolliver (his father) worked at Ritter Saw Mill before his death. Jesse loved to give items away from his home grown garden vegetables, wood working items that he would make, and the baked goods that Jesse and his loving wife (Carrie) would make. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by an infant son, Linden Douglas Tolliver; five brothers, Jr., Drew, William, Denny, and Robert Tolliver; two sisters, Ruth Craft and Ruby Halsey; and a son-in-law, Darrell Gillespie. Jesse leaves behind his wife, the love of his life of almost 65 years, Carrie Deloris (Lusk) Tolliver. Jesse spotted her at church one night and told the person he was with that he was going to marry her and he did. He also leaves behind three children, daughter, Sheila Tolliver of Beaver; a son, Randall Tolliver and his wife, Lois of Beckley; and a daughter, Delilah Gillespie of Pierpoint; three grandchildren, Scotty Martin and his wife, Lisa of Beaver, Patricia Lester and her husband, Danny of Mullens, and Terri Lea Blankenship and her husband, P.J. of Mullens; nine great grandchildren, Tyler, Cody, and Jayden Lester, Adriana and Abigail Martin, Patrick, Logan, Emma, and Nina Blankenship; and a great great grandchild due in November; he leaves behind his loving furry friend, Lizzie who adored him so much; Uncle Jesse also leaves behind several nieces and nephews that called or came by to see him almost every day. Surviving are son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Charlene Peters, Destin, Fla; two grandchildren, Michelle Ringler, Germany, Wendy Peters, Destin, Fla; one great-grandchild, Brittney Ringler; one brother, Brodie Tinsley, Roanoke. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery. on November 15, 1994.⁸

     Bessie Jane Bailey was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.^2,3 Her Social Security Number was 231-60-4698.⁴ She was born on May 30, 1908 at Bedford Co., Virginia.^4,3,1 As of circa 1924,her married name was Tinsley.⁵ She married Benjamin Harris Thomas "Ben" Tinsley, son of Charles Lee "Charlie" Tinsley and Elzira Arminta C. "Minnie" Conner, circa 1924.^5,2 Bessie Jane Bailey died on April 2, 1999 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 90.^2,4,3,6 She TINSLEY, Bessie Jane, 90, of Roanoke, and formerly of Martinsville, died Friday, April 2, 1999, in South Roanoke Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. She was married to the late Benjamin H. Tinsley for 69 years. He was a retired Norfolk & Western Railroad Roadmaster. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of United Transportation Union. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Lowell and Evelyn Tinsley, Barry and Pamela Tinsley; and several grandchildren. The interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. on April 5, 1999.²

     Lowell Andrew Tinsley married Anne Unknown.³ Lowell Andrew Tinsley was born on March 26, 1931 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia.^2,3 He married Dorothy Mae Bible on December 27, 1952 at Roanoke, Virginia.² Lowell Andrew Tinsley and Dorothy Mae Bible were divorced on October 2, 1979 at Pinellas Co., Florida.⁴ Lowell Andrew Tinsley married Evelyn Louise Boyle on November 22, 1980 at DeSoto Co., Florida.⁵ Lowell Andrew Tinsley died on September 24, 2021 at Palm Harbor, Pinellas Co., Florida, at age 90.³ He Lowell Tinsley, of Palm Harbor, Fla., passed on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Suncoast Hospice. Born on March 26, 1931 in Bluefield, W.Va. to Benjamin and Bessie Tinsley. Grew up in Roanoke, Va., served in the USAF and AF Reserves, earned his Bachelors Degree from Roanoke College. Lowell began his career as a System Analyst at Appalachian Power, he continued his career in computer sciences at Burroughs, Unysis, the Defense Dept, and United Health Group. He was a member of Lions and Jaycees. He was one of the founding members of Clearwater for Youth. Lowell enjoyed bowling, football and the Tampa Bay Rays. Predeceased by parents and wife Anne. Survived by brother, Barry (Pam); children, Ben (Margaret) and Ashley (Nichlos); son, Kris (Tiffany); grands, Dylan, Baylie (Zachary), and Tanner; great grands, Witten, Leia, and Penelope; daughter, Kay; and grand, Jerry.
