She was a lifelong member of the Baptist church. She is survived by the following children of the first marriage: D. B. and T. E. Powell, Jacksonville, Fla., Jack, John and Sam Powell, Princeton, Joe Powell, Salem, Va., Charles E. Powell, Charleston, Mrs. E. H. Lafon, Gassaway, Mrs. F. Bruck Johnson, Jacksonville, and Mrs. Edwin Rice, Belle. Also surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. F. M. Gore, Princeton, Mrs. S. E. Gore, Rich Creek, Va., and P. L. Thompson, Princeton. In addition, Mrs. Oxley is survived by 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. on December 16, 1950.⁴

The deceased had lived in Jacksonville for the past 34 years, and was an employee of the Standard Oil Company. The body was taken to the Seaver Mortuary where funeral arrangements will be made. on July 7, 1955.¹¹

Six great grandchildren: Kate (Kyle) Weeks, Sarah, Meghan, Jim and Owen Sikes and John Neil Anderson. One great-great grandson, Liam Weeks. One sister, Ruth Rice of Hurricane, WV and many nieces and nephews including Cleve Powell of Jacksonville. Her caregivers Ellie Cortez and Becky Rogers. Interment will follow at Arlington Park Cemetery. on October 15, 2002.⁷

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, at Belle Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Denny Dodson, the Rev. Doug Jenkins and Pastor Richard Mahan officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park, London. Friends may call at Fidler & Frame Funeral Home, Belle, from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 5. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton. on March 21, 1972.⁶

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nina Hatcher Powell; two sons, Chuck Powell of Florida, and Danny Powell of Georgia; one daughter, Mrs. David (Jane) Bateman of Huntington; three sisters, Mrs. Bruce (Beth) Johnson of Florida, Mrs. Edwin (Ruth) Rice of Charleston, Mrs. Ed (Polly) Lafon of Gassaway; and six grandchildren. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. on October 19, 1982.⁵
