Delp Sr., 86. BECKLEY - Born on October 30, 1928 at Stotesbury, W.Va., he was the son of the late Robert Lee Delp Sr., and Cynthia Truitt Delp. Mr. Delp was a retired coal miner with 34 years of service, and was a member of the UMWA. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served as a gunner's mate on the USS Worcester during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Delp attended the Stotesbury School and enjoyed gardening as a hobby. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was preceded in death by sisters, Louise Mullis, Jean Bowling, Ina Hornsby, Joyce Hurley, and Martha Frances; by brothers Robert, James Earl, Gary, Raymond, Harold, and Larry Delp. Survivors include his wife of nearly 57 years, Alice Hutchens Delp. His children, Susan Delp of Columbia, S.C., Kimberly Elkins and her husband Dan of Columbia, S.C., David Delp and his wife Susan of Cool Ridge, and Alfred Delp Jr. and his wife Tisa of Manning, S.C. Grandchildren, Zachary and Tyler Elkins of Columbia, S.C., Jonathan Delp of Columbia, S.C., and David Andrew Delp and his wife Christy of Beaver; two great grandchildren, Madison and Riley Grace Delp; two step grandchildren, Joseph Elkins of Columbia, S.C., and Tesa Bontrager and her husband David of Eagle River, Wis; three step great grandchildren, Lance, Bethalyn, and Lillian Bontrager, all of Eagle River, Wis. A sister, Janet Caulder and her husband Carl of Fairmont, N.C., and sisters-in-law, Chloe Delp of Dallas, Texas and Erma Delp of Beckley. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 11 a.m., with Mr. Steve Baird officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity. on May 14, 2014.⁵

     Charles Edward "Chuck" Lynn Jr. was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.⁴ He was born on October 4, 1927 at Wheeling, Ohio Co., West Virginia.^3,5 He married Laverna Christalee Hutchens, daughter of Charles Edward Hutchens and Lelia Laverna Conner, on May 29, 1951 at Clarksburg, Harrison Co., West Virginia.^1,3,6 Charles Edward "Chuck" Lynn Jr. died on March 21, 2021 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 93.⁴ He Charles E. Lynn Jr., 93 of Salem, went to be with the Lord, on Sunday, March 21, 2021. Charles is survived by his wife, Laverna Lynn; children, Chuck Lynn, Nancy Speer, Bobbi Epperly and husband, Tom, Mary Beth Phillips and husband, James, and Kelly Mooneyham and husband, James; seven grandchildren; and one kitty. Charles was a Veteran and retired from Double Envelope. Services will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home Chapel. Raine, 65, of South State Street, Athens, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 1994, at a Princeton hospital. Bom at Fitzerald, Ga., he was a son of Lee Raine of Daytona Beach, Fla. He was a graduate of a Daytona Beach high school and had served with the U.S. Army for more than 22 years during World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam War. He had received World War II Victory Medal, Occupation Medal, Japan KSM with five Bronze Stars, National Defense Medal, Purple Heart, ROK President Unit Citation and 1st OLC National Defense Service Medal. He retired in 1968 as a Chief Warrant Officer. He had served with the U.S. Postal System in Geneva, Ohio, with 22 years of service, then in 1990 he moved to Athens. He also was the past president of the F.O.E. Lodge 3903 in Geneva. Survivors: wife, Alice Craghead Raine; daughters, Ms. Stormy Raine of Athens and Mrs. Sandra Tgibides of Lowell, Mass; sons, Jimmy Shrewsbury of Louisville, Ky., and Mark Shrewsbury of Princeton; two sisters and seven grandchildren. on February 19, 1994.³

     Keith Allen Meadows was buried at Jennings Cemetery on Stovall's Ridge, Camp Creek, Mercer Co., West Virginia.^2,3 He and Melissa Ann Craghead were divorced.³ Keith Allen Meadows was born on October 16, 1961 at Fort Atkinson, Jefferson Co., Wisconsin.^1,2,3 He married Melissa Ann Craghead, daughter of Bobby James "Bob" Craghead and Nancy Carolyn Smith, on April 27, 1984 at Rich Creek, Giles Co., Virginia.¹ Keith Allen Meadows died on December 11, 2000 at Jacksonville, Duval Co., Florida, at age 39.^2,3 He Keith Allen Meadows, 39, of 5511 Los Santos Way, formerly of Spanishburg, died Monday, Dec. ll, 2000 at his home in Jacksonville. Born Oct. 16, 1961, in Fort Atkinson, Wis., he was the son of Marie (Polly) Ellison Wile of Camp Creek and the late Eldridge Delano Meadows. He was a 1980 graduate of Spanishburg High School and a graduate of the Nashville Auto Diesel Mechanic School as a Certified Auto Diesel Mechanic. He was part owner and operator of the Atlantic Marble Company of Jacksonville. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include a daughter, Melanie Ann Meadows of Spanishburg; sisters, Debra Thomas and husband, John of Cam p Creek and Teresa Ann Meadows and husband, Tim of Greenville, S.C; brothers, Bruce E. Meadows and wife, Kimberly of Princeton and Gregory R. Meadows and wife, Sarah of Gaithersburg, Md; stepfather, William E. Wile of Camp Creek. Born May 8, 1916, in Bluefield, he was a son of the late John Alexander Whitlock and Nancy Maude Coles Whitlock. Mr. Whitlock was raised in Bluefield and attended Beaver High School (Class of 1934), West Virginia Business College, and the Virginia Military Institute (Class of 1939) in Lexington, Va. He was a veteran of World War II, in the U.S. Army 871st Engineer Topographic Company, serving in the Pacific Theatre during the invasions of Leyte and Luzon and the fall of Manila in the Philippines. During the Korean War, he was an ROTC instructor in the Engineer section at West Virginia University, Morgantown. He retired at the rank of Major, C.E., after 26 years of active and reserve service. Mr. Whitlock retired as Corporate Secretary of Flat Top Insurance Agency in 1981 after 43 years. He was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Bluefield Lions Club, Bluefield Country Club, Bluefield Elks Lodge No. 269, American Legion - Riley-Vest Post No. 7, Reserve Officers Association, and (formerly) the Bluefield Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John A. Whitlock Jr., and Charles B. Whitlock; a sister, Mamie Whitlock Miller Brown; a nephew, John A. (Jackie) Whitlock III; his first wife, Frances Earhart Burkett Whitlock; and his second wife, Bonnie Light Thornton Whitlock. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Leigh Whitlock of Afton; two sisters, Anne Whitlock Dickey of Charlottesville, Va., and Claire Whitlock Cooper of Corpus Christi, Texas; and by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Mercer Funeral Home & Crematory of Bluefield with Dr. I. Mark Conner officiating. Burial will follow in Monte Vista Park Cemetery in Green Valley. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Robert B. Dickey, Tommy Hughes, Scott Wade, Greg Wade, and Steve Aker.
