Mr. Christian also worked for the Army Corp. of Engineers. Mr. Christian served as the Director of State Park Campgrounds and Marinas for the Commonwealth of Kentucky until appointed the first superintendent at Fort Boonesborough State Park in Richmond, KY. He was the owner and operator of Christian's Marina on the Kentucky River at Clays Ferry, KY. Mr. Christian served as Sgt. Deputy for the Fayette County Sheriff's Department. He was a member of SPEBSQSA (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America) and was also a member of the Church at Athens. In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughters, Linda Allgeier and her husband, George, and Candy Pettry and her husband, Dan, all of three grandchildren, Christian, Tyler and Holly Allgeier, all of two sisters, Mary Roberts and her husband, Shearl, and Norma Yeley, all of Ohio; a sister-in-law, Mildred Christian, widow of Elbert Christian, M.D., Louisville; a devoted niece, Sheila Kuhlman, Louisville; and special friends, Fred and Judy Kelly, T.J. Richardson, M.D., Medical Staff and Office Personnel of the Central Kentucky Medical Group. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Elbert Christian, M.D. and Homer Christian. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery. on March 19, 2004.3

Sowers and husband, Junior of Floyd, and Linda M. Iddings and husband, Tom of Riner; sister-in-law, Glenna Manning; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also served as Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of Blueridge College of Evangelism. He was a loving and devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many through the years. He loved to preach. During his ministry he touched countless lives, including baptizing 342, conducting 454 funerals, and performing 152 weddings. He also preached 188 revivals in eleven states, as well as one in Mexico, resulting in a total of 59 baptisms. He enjoyed spending time with his family, attending Virginia Tech sporting events, and watching his favorite shows, The Andy Griffith Show and Duck Dynasty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Carol Mae Elmore. Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Mark Elmore (Tonya) of Springville, Va., and John David Elmore (Terri) of King, N.C; two daughters, Rhonda Elmore of North Tazewell, Va., and Rhoda Whitaker (Warren) of Springfield, Ky; six granddaughters, Kimberly, Kristen, Haley, Faith, Madison and Laken; one brother, Allen Elmore (Amanda) of Roanoke, Va; and a multitude of Christian friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the Mudfork Church of Christ with Joe Hall, Brian Mullins, Glenn Tabor and Warren Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Pallbearers will be J.C. Pendleton, Larry Brown, Eddie Dickenson, Eddie Shrader, Jeff Carter, Frank Aldridge, C.C. Brooks, Kevin Billips, Harry Yates, Bill Kinser and Kenny Puckett. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blueridge College of Evangelism, P.O. Survivors include her husband, Johnny Elmore; two sons, Mark Elmore and wife, Tonya of Springville, Va. and John David Elmore of King, N.C; two daughters, Rhonda Elmore of North Tazewell, Va. and Rhoda Whitaker and husband, Warren of Springfield, Ky; six granddaughters, Kimberly, Kristen, Haley, Faith, Madison, and Laken; four brothers, Andy of San Diego, Calif., Tom and wife, Kathy of Lilburn, Ga., Dave of Danville, Ill., and Gary and wife, Linda of Stewardson, Ill. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Mudfork Church of Christ with Joe Hall, Brian Mullins, and Warren Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va. Pallbearers will be Larry Brown, Eddie Dickenson, Eddie Shrader, Jeff Carter, Frank Aldridge, and C.C. Brooks. The family will receive friends at the church from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2009. Peery and St.Clair Funeral Home of Tazewell, Va. is serving the Elmore family. on September 23, 2009.2
