Michael Ray "Mike" Sutphin Winston-Salem, NC. In Loving Memory of Michael (Mike) Ray Sutphin May 4, 1965 – May 13, 2025. Mike was not only Missi's husband but her best friend, confidant, and her partner in every sense of the word. His caring spirit and unwavering love were the foundation of their life together. His absence leaves a void that can never be filled. Mike left us far too soon at the age of 60. A man who embraced life with joy, humor, and heart, Mike will be remembered for his vast knowledge of trivia, unshakable love for sports—especially his beloved Virginia Tech Hokies—and the deep affection he had for his friends, family, and furry companions. Whether proudly donning maroon and orange on game day, dominating trivia night, enjoying a quiet round of golf, or cheering on his teammates in his bowling league, Mike brought energy, laughter, and a spark to every moment. He found great joy in friendly competition and community. At the center of his life was his treasured wife of 32 years, Missi. Their love story was one of laughter, loyalty, and profound connection. Through every high and low, they faced life hand-in-hand, an unbreakable team. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Adkins, whose love and influence shaped the man he became. He is survived by Missi, his beloved pets Bubba, Stella, beloved family, and a wide circle of cherished friends who were fortunate enough to know him. Mike leaves behind a legacy of compassion, wit, loyalty, and the kind of friendship that lasts a lifetime.1 He was born on May 4, 1965 at Radford, Virginia.1,2,3 He married Melissa Faye "Missi" Smith on September 26, 1992 at Montgomery Co., Virginia.3 Michael Ray "Mike" Sutphin died on May 13, 2025 at Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., North Carolina, at age 60.1
