She was the wife of Evenor L. McBride, a retiree of the duPont Company in Martinsville, Va. Mrs. McBride owned and operated a beauty salon in Eden, and was a member of Spray United Methodist Church. Also surviving are two brothers, Lewis and Irvin Stephens, and two sisters, Mrs. Inez Fulcher and Miss Lucille Stephens, all of Eden. Burial to be in Overlook Cemetery. on June 25, 1989.³

Mrs. McBride was a native of Taylor, S.C. She was employed by Mayberry Ice Cream Restaurants and was a charter member of Kinnett Memorial Baptist Church. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Mrs. McBride is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Jo Ann McBride Murray of Burlington; two sons, Danny L. McBride of Mebane and Jimmy R. McBride of Charlotte; four sisters, Mrs. Marie Kemiciak of El Sobrante, Calif., Mrs. Margaret Wilkinson of Mebane, Inez Smith of Burlington and Jesse Mrs. Mac Baker of Carol City, Fla; a brother, J.D. Rector Jr. of Arcadia, Fla; two halfsisters, Mrs. Ruth Jones of Taylors, and Mrs. Daisy Jones of Greenville, S.C; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. on April 4, 1990.⁴

     Melissa Jannette Cecil was buried at Sunset Cemetery, 501 South Franklin Street, Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^1,5 Her Social Security Number was 231-29-0152.² She was born on June 19, 1970 at Radford, Virginia.^2,3,4 As of November 18, 1989,her married name was Davis.³ She married Stephen Paul Davis on November 18, 1989 at Christiansburg, Montgomery Co., Virginia.^1,3,5 Melissa Jannette Cecil died on November 16, 2000 at Charlottesville, Virginia, at age 30.^1,2,6 She DAVIS, Melissa Jannette, 30, of Blacksburg, departed this life to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 16, 2000 at UVa Medical Center after a lifelong illness with cystic fibrosis. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Edna Miller and Mary Cecil, also a greatgrandmother, "Minnie" and an aunt, Sue Lowe. She is survived by her devoted husband, Stephen Paul Davis of Blacksburg; her mother, Rose Martin of Blacksburg; her father, Bill Cecil and stepmother, Betty Jo of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; her grandfather, William Paul Cecil of Christiansburg; her brother and sister-in-law, John and Tina Cecil and their children, Andi and Jonathan; father-in-law and motherin-law, Tommy and Jane Davis of Christiansburg; a sister-in-law, Stephanie Buchanan; and a niece, Grace Aldridge; a brother-in-law, Forest Davis and his wife, Cindy and their son, Clay and her pet dog, Nikita. She also leaves uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends. Missy loved life and she loved the Lord. Interment will immediately follow in Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. This day of burial will her 11th weeding anniversary. The family expresses special thanks to Dr. Lucian Robinson of Blacksburg and the staff at UVa Medical Center, Charlottesville, Va. on November 17, 2000.¹
