Born June 3, 1965 in Welch, he was the son of Ray Cox of Davy and the late Ruth Joyce Barnett Cox. He was a lifelong resident of Davy, living in Coalwood the past ll years. He was a volunteer for the Coalwood Fire Department. He worked several years for EMS and Fire Services in McDowell County. He was employed at Nichols Construction Company of Vansant, Va. as a lineman. He was affiliated with the Baptist faith. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gaither and Esther Patrick Barnett; paternal grandparents, Charles and Lillie Young Cox; several aunts and uncles. Survivors include his father, Ray Cox and wife Shelby of Davy; his wife, Dianne Christian Cox of Coalwood; one daughter, Tiffany Lynn Cox and one son, Zachary Allan Cox, both of the home; two brothers, Ray Cox Jr. and wife Judy of Greenville, N.C. and Roger Cox of Davy; one sister, Becky Cox Sizemore and husband Robert of Maulden, S.C; several nieces and nephews. Burial will follow at Hatfield Cemetery at Buckeye Hollow near Three Forks. Pallbearers will be Jerry Jordan, Justin Porterfield, Jeff Pittman, Tom Fuller, Terry Richardson, Markus Kendricks, Damon Brigham and Ray McPeak. on May 7, 2006.3

     Roger G. Cox Roger G. Cox, 57, of Davy, passed away, Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Welch Community Hospital. Roger spent his career dedicated to EMS, caring for the people of McDowell County, WV. He worked as an EMT for McDowell County Ambulance Authority. He served as a firemen, EMT and was the previous Fire Chief for Davy Volunteer Fire Department. Roger retired as an Emergency 911 Dispatcher from the McDowell County 911 Center. Born January 13, 1963 in Welch WV, he was the son of the late Ray Cox Sr. and Ruth "Joyce" Barnett Cox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rick Cox. He is survived by a sister, Rebecca Cox Sizemore; a brother, Ray Cox Jr., both of Greenville, SC; his nieces, Crystal of SC and Tiffany of PA; nephews, Robert of Greeneville, SC, Zachary and Adam, both of WV; four great nieces, Kyra, Lily, Sophie and Zoey of SC; a great nephew, Conner of SC; close friends Pete Bignotti of FL and Melissa Perry of Asco; his caretaker, Fay Sneed, along with numerous other friends and family who cared for him deeply.3 He was born on January 13, 1963 at McDowell Co., West Virginia.3 He died on June 20, 2020 at Welch, McDowell Co., West Virginia, at age 57.3
