And Sven Taffs (Laura) of Helena, MT. Sisters; Annie Ogden of Cincinnati, OH. Perkins Sr., 69, of Glasgow, went home to heaven on October 16, 2013, at CAMC General Hospital. J.L. was born May 13, 1944, in Coalburg, and was a 1964 graduate of East Bank High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam conflict. Upon returning from the war, J.L. married the love of his life, Sandra L. Williams Perkins of Notamine, on January 4, 1969. J.L. was an avid aviation enthusiast, which inspired his son, James Jr., to his current job as a commercial helicopter pilot for the State of West Virginia Aviation Division. J.L. was a retired coal miner with Bethlehem Steel and was a member of the UMWA. J.L. was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 158 and the Order of the Eastern Star No. 101 in Chelyan and attended the Church of Jesus Christ in Coalburg. J.L. was the son of the late J.C. and Camillia Perkins. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Parsons, and father-in-law, Roy Williams. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 44 years, Sandra L. Perkins at home; son, James L. Perkins Jr. and his wife, Christie, of South Charleston; grandchildren, Colin, Brendan Quinn, Abbie and James L. Perkins III "Tre," all at home; sisters, Susie McManus of Elkhart, Ind., and Alice Hodge of Shrewsbury; brother, Chuck Perkins of Coalburg; mother-in-law, Magdalene Williams; niece, Katlyn Perdue, who was very dear to his heart; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park, London, with military honors provided by Herbert J. Thomas Memorial Detachment No. 947, Marine Corps League. The family would like to thank J.L.'s doctors for their excellent care during his illness: Dr. Sarah Nease, Dr. Harry Duncan, Dr. Ghali Bacha, Dr. Fatima Aziz and Dr. Dave. on October 19, 2013.3
