He was 61 years old. He was president of DeLung's Inc. in Green Valley, and was the Southern Ashland Oil distributor for southern West Virginia. He was also president of Surface Banana Co., chairman of the board at Valley Bank in Green Valley, and a member of the board of directors member of the Athens Bank in Athens. In addition, he was a member of Johnston Chapel Baptist Church in Hall's Ridge in Princeton, Masons and Beni Kedem Shrine Temple of Charleston, Shrine Club's Cripple Children's Committee of Bluefield, Princeton Rotary Club, Princeton Elk's Lodge, Bluefield Sales Executive Club, and a veteran of World War II. He was born in Lerona.
Surviving are his wife, Glenna Elmore DeLung; two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Barbara) Wood and Mrs. David (Donna) Meadows, both of Princeton; two sisters, Mrs. Garnett Trent of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Mrs. Meryl Hersman of Princeton; and two brothers, Maurice DeLung of Princeton, and Larry DeLung of Pompano Beach. Survivors include her second husband; two daughters, Carla Joe Bernasconi of Gainesville and Mrs. James (Patricia Lynn) Hanks of Princeton; two sons, Danny Buckland and Richard W. Elmore, both of Archer, Fla; two sisters, Pat Swartzell and Norma Duncan, both of Fairfax, Va; and four grandchildren. Graveside commital rites were conducted at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with Rev. Jimmy Jones officiating. on July 6, 1984.⁴

He was a retired trucking company owner and was a member of the First Christian Church of Princeton and the Princeton Elks Lodge No. 1459. Elmore was also a veteran of the Korean War having served with the U.S. Air Force. Born in Princeton, he was a lifelong resident of Mercer County. He was a son of Mrs. Virginia B. White Elmore Walker of Glenwood Park and the late Ervin J. Elmore. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Chester Lee Elmore. Survivors in addition to his mother include his stepfather, David F. Walker of Glenwood Park; two daughters, Miss Billie Ann Elmore of Raleigh, N.C., and Miss Theresa Lynn Elmore of Morgantown; one sister, Mrs. S. T. (Dottie) Sain of Chesapeake, Va.      Dorothea Louise "Dottie" Elmore Dorothea Louise Sain, 65, passed away Sept. 14, 2006 in Orlando. Mrs. Sain was born Oct. 8, 1940 in Princeton. She retired after 40 years as a Flight Attendant with US Air. Mrs. Sain was an avid golfer and was a member of the Winter Park Pines Golf Course. She is survived by six nieces and nephews, Kim Gresham, David Elmore, Scot Elmore, Ginger Aubrey, Billie Ann Jones and Teresa Lynch; several grand nieces and nephews; three stepdaughters; two grandchildren; special friends, Becky and Steve Hunt and many other close friends. Mrs. Sain was preceded in death by her husband, Shotwell T. Sain. Born Aug. 4, 1934 in Princeton, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Blanche Thompson Wiley. She was a retired teacher's aide with Mercer County Schools and a former member of the Kee Street United Methodist Church in Princeton. She had been a resident of Greensboro for one year moving there from Princeton. In addition to her parents, her first husband, William “Bill” Turner, her second husband, Cecil “Red” Elmore, her third husband, Homer Pendleton; and two brothers, Walter Wiley and Jack Wiley preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Billie Jones and husband Eddie of Greensboro and Teresa Lynch and husband Dan of Pinehurst, N.C; four grandchildren, Meagan Jones, Evan Jones, Molly Lynch and Luke Lynch; and two sisters, Geraldine Shumate of Xenia. Ohio and Jean Webb of Andover, N.J. Graveside services will be conducted at Resthaven Park Cemetery in Princeton with the Rev. Dan Lynch officiating. on January 8, 2006.³

He was born in Cleveland County, NC on Sept. 29, 1919 and attended UNC-Chapel Hill. He served in the U.S.Navy Seabees in the South Pacific during WWII and constructed air bases in North Africa during the Cold War. He is survived by his wife, Dotty Sain of Orlando; daughters,Karen Roof and family of Columbia, SC. Shirley Ann Walker and family of Chester, SC, Victoria Sain Teachey and her mother, Azalee B. Sain of Raleigh, NC; grandsons, Joshua Teachey of Raleigh, NC and Scott G. Morton of Las Vegas, NV; several other grandchildren, great-grand-children and one great-great grand-child. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Sain Morton and grandson, Jeffrey Lawrence Morton. A memorial service will held at a later date at Carpenter's Grove Baptist Church in Cleveland County, NC. on June 20, 2001.²

     Marion Joan Thornton was buried at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Courthouse Road, Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia.² She Marion Joan Thornton Elmore Krempel, 88, of Homosassa, FL, formerly of Athens, WV died Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Cypress Cove Care Center in Crystal River, FL. Born September 2, 1932, in Athens, WV she was the daughter of the late Overton and Lucille Thornton. She was a former member of the First Christian Church in Princeton and worked as a medical transcriptionist before retirement. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Lee Elmore; her second husband, Roy Krempel; and three brothers, Bill Thornton, Buck Thornton, and Junior Thornton. She is survived by her four children, Kim Gresham and husband Neil of Jacksonville, FL, David Elmore of Homosassa, FL, Scott Elmore and wife Roxanne of Baltimore, MD, and Jennifer Mueller and husband Chip of Crystal River, FL; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
