He was born February 21, 1932 in Covington, Virginia, to the late George Dewey and Lucille Elizabeth Ann Grady Tingler. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a retired foreman for Hercules. While there, he worked in the Lab and Film Production and Fiber Production departments. He was currently attending First Christian Church of Covington and was a former member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church. He was a member of the Covington Moose Lodge, the Triple Springs Hunt Club, and the Curtis A Smith VFW Post 1033. He loved to cook, and loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He will be remembered for his generosity. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Anne Hamilton Tingler in 2006; a brother, George Lewis Tingler; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Doss. He is survived by two daughters, Teresa Lawson and husband, Roy of Morgantown, WV, and Carolyn A. Tingler-Smith and husband, Lee of Clifton Forge; three grandchildren, Benjamin Lawson, Elizabeth Smith and fiance, Matt Crush, and Rebecca Smith; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Carol Hallet and Wayne Angel. She was a perfect role model as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. All who knew her will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, Gordon and George Tingler. Mary is survived by her children, Dennis Lee Doss and wife Sherry of Waldorf, MD, Gary Doss and wife Becky of Salisbury, MD, and Kenny Doss and wife Kerri of Waldorf, MD; brother, Benny Tingler of Covington, VA; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was born on September 13, 1931 in Covington, VA to the late Leonard Beauford and Evelyn Beatric Doss. He was the beloved husband of Mary Elizabeth Tingler Doss whom he married on September 8, 1952 in Covington, VA. Linwood graduated from Covington High School and went on to join the Army in 1948 and served our country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on June 4, 1952. He then went on to work for Safeway becoming the Produce Shipping Foreman and retired in September of 1995 after forty three years of service. In November of 1995 Linwood moved to Lusby from Kettering, MD. He was a member of the American Legion, enjoyed fishing, gardening, shooting muzzle loading guns, and stamp collecting. Linwood in survived by his wife of fifty seven years, Mary Elizabeth Doss of Lusby, MD; children, Dennis Lee Doss and wife Sherry of Waldorf, MD, Gary Doss and wife Becky of Salisbury, MD, and Kenny Doss and wife Kerri of Waldorf, MD; As well as his siblings, Lewis G. Doss of Mississippi, and Shirley J. Naughton of Greenbackville, VA; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Dennis Doss, Gary Doss, Kenny Doss, Kenneth Edward Doss, Scott Barrett, and Kyle Samilton.
