     Judy Faye Cupp Judy Faye Kirk, age 68, of Christiansburg passed away from this life on Monday, October 29, 2018, to be with her Heavenly Father. She fought a hard battle but, won in the end. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Edward and Catherine Cupp, and her brothers, Donald Cupp and Michael Cupp. Left to cherish her memory are her three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Carolyn Fleet, Samuel and Julie Fleet, Brian and Tracie Fleet; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers and sister-in-law, Ronald Cupp, David and Carlene Cupp, Roger Cupp; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Jack Saunders, Betty Bentley, Diane and Chris Poff, Cathy Elliott; as well as an extended family of nieces and nephews who all loved her dearly. She will be sadly missed by her friends at Walton Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family wishes to thank all those at Carilion Hospice for taking care of her during her last days, especially Nicole and Karen. He was born in Craig County on April 27, 1925, was a lifelong citizen of the area, and member of Level Green Christian Church, serving on the official board. Junior was a farmer and had been retired from RAAP in Radford. He was preceded in death by his mother, Addie E. Hutchison; and his wife, Evelyn Long Duncan. Junior's joy and knowledge of the outdoors was passed on to his sons, as well as his many friends, and everyone was as welcome at the breakfast table as they were spending the day in the field. He leaves to cherish his memory his sons and daughters-in-law, Davey Terry and Judith Duncan, of Colonial Heights, and Denny and Jeanette Duncan, of Pearisburg; and four grandchildren, Shaun, Richard, Evelyn and Jonathan W. Duncan. Burial will follow in the Level Green Church Cemetery. on August 14, 2009.¹

Born in Eggleston, Va. she was a daughter of the late Olan and Sadie Albert Long. She had worked at the Hoechst-Celanese Celco Plant and at VPI & SU and was a long-time member of the Level Green Christian Church in Craig Co. Surviving are her husband, Junior W. Duncan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Davey T. and Judith Lewis Duncan of Colonial Heights, Va. and Denny W. and Jeanette Kelley Duncan of Eggleston, Va. and three grandchildren, Shaun David Duncan, Richard White Duncan and Evelyn Christine Duncan. Funeral services will be conducted in the Level Green Christian Church in Craig Co., Va. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. on December 4, 1994.⁴

Born in Craig County on January 21, 1899, he was the son of the late Elisha White and Heneretta Hughes Duncan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Myrtle Smith Duncan. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Juanita ("Teto") Porterfield of Newport, and Maxine and Phillip Marshall of Salem; three sons and daughters-in-law, Junior Duncan of Newport, Terry Ewell and Rebecca Duncan of Pearisburg, and Mario ("Bo") and Patricia Duncan of Christiansburg; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Interment will follow in the Williams Cemetery, Craig County. on December 25, 1995.²

     Romaine Virginia Brumfield was buried at Sherwood Burial Park, 1045 Lynchburg Turnpike, Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.^4,5 She was born on April 19, 1923 at Pembroke, Giles Co., Virginia.^3,4,5 As of May 31, 1997,her married name was Duncan.¹ She married Junior White Duncan, son of Leonard White Duncan and Addie Evelyn/Eveline Hutchinson, on May 31, 1997 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia.¹ Romaine Virginia Brumfield and Junior White Duncan were divorced on April 11, 2006 at Virginia.² Romaine Virginia Brumfield died on May 11, 2009 at Salem, Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 86.^5,4 She In the quiet and early morning of Monday, May 11, 2009, Jesus called our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Romaine Virginia Brumfield Altizer, at the age of 86, home to be with Him and her loved ones. She was born on April 19, 1923, in Pembroke, VA, the oldest daughter of the late Marshall Black & Sara Ella Meredith Brumfield. Mama graduated from Pembroke High School. On Wednesday, October 29, 1952, she married Richard Henry Altizer and moved to Salem. With this marriage, not just two lives became one, but two families. She was employed with Gibb Kanode's, Kroger, and Tarpley's in Salem before retiring in 1986. Our mother was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Salem. She also enjoyed being a homemaker, shopping, talking, and spending time with her family and friends. One of her other ministries was calling her Sunday School friends daily and remembering them with cards and visits. She was predeceased by her husband of 23 years, Richard; brothers, James, Charles, and Mancel Brumfield; and sister, Betty Jean Brumfield. Her surviving family includes her daughters, Debra A. Taylor & husband, David, Wanda M. Journell & husband, Dennis, and Joyce Brewer & husband, Jack Jr., all of Salem, and Carolyn A. Aldhizer & husband, H.T. III, of Vero Beach, FL; sister, Lucille B. Williams & husband, Robert, of Pembroke; sisters-in-law, Marie Brumfield, Reva A. Brown, Hazel Altizer, and Ethel Altizer; grandchildren, Drew Taylor, Wynsor T. and David B. Smith, Wendy B. and John Baumgartner, Kimberly B. Claar, Kevin and Cathy Aldhizer, and Karen and Frank Schlitt; great-grandchildren, Kyle, Cole, Clay, Caleb, Chloe, Kendall, and Casey; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to offer special thanks to Mama's family at Snyder Nursing Home for their wonderful care and unending love. Services were to be conducted by the Rev. Charles Williams with interment in the River View Cemetery in Goshen. Survivors include two sons, James of Staunton and Robert Hutchison of Shinnston, W. Va; two daughters, Mrs. Hassaleen Hall and Mrs Ella Hutchison, both of Staunton; two sisters, Mrs. Virgie Craft and Mrs. Recie Wright, both of Covington; a brother, Earl Craft of Goshen and four grandchildren. The active pallbearers were L. D. Edwards, Thomas Alphin, W. B. Mays, Pete Greaver, H. D. Carter Sr. and John Blaker. on September 5, 1967.³

She was a retired aide at Western State Hospital and was a member of Goshen Methodist Church. Surviving are two brothers, Robert T. of Shinnston, W.Va., and James N. Hutchison of Staunton; two nieces and two nephews. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Goshen. Pallbearers will be Russell Wilberger, Joseph Graham Sr., Andrew D. Graham, Henry P. "Lefty" Hutchinson, 79, of S. Pike St. died at 12:33 a.m. Thursday, (Jan. 2, 1992) in United Hospital Center in Clarksburg. He was born Aug. 29, 1912, at White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. He was the son of the late Henry Benton and Emma Effie Craft Hutchinson. He was a 40-year member of Hepzibah Baptist Church, where he served as chairman of the Trustee Board. He was assistant Sunday school superintendent and a longtime Sunday school teacher. He worked for several years for the Richards Coal Co. as tipple foreman and with the McCall Coal Co. as field representative until his retirement. Hutchinson was a amateur baseball pitcher for several years in the Harrison County Baseball League and with the Fairmont Pirates. He was a member of St. John's Lodge 24, AF&M of Shinnston; the American Legion Post 31, Shinnston, and was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Seabees. Preceding him in death were two sisters. Survivors are his wife, Alvenia D. Powell Hutchinson, whom he married April 15, 1946; one daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Suzanne) Martin of Ellicott City, Md; one brother and sister-in-law, James N. and Elinor Hutchinson of Staunton; three grandchildren, Phillip, Melonie, and Nathan Martin; one niece, Lila Kirkland of Goshen; two nephews, David Hutchinson of Washington, D.C. and Michael Hutchinson of Los Angeles, Calif. on January 7, 1992.⁴

He is survived by his wife, Elinor, sons David of Washington, DC and Michael of Santa Clarita, California; Michael's wife Kimberly, and two grandsons, Ryan and Evan. on December 17, 2001.⁹

He was a foreman of the dye house at Stillwater Worsted Mills in Goshen for a number of years and retired from Triangle Builders of Staunton. He was a member of Goshen Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Hassaleene (Hutchinson) Hall, his second wife, Viola (Hostetter) Hall, one brother, Morrison Willis Hall and one step-daughter, Joyce Hostetter Jolly. 7 Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Lila H. He was a retired engineer with the C&O Railway, was a member of Goshen United Methodist Church and Central United Methodist Church of Clifton Forge, Covington Moose Lodge, Clifton Forge Elks Lodge 1065, Goshen-Millboro VFW and United Transportation Union. Kirkland of Jacksonville, Fla; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret J. (Weber) Kirkland Haggstrom. Burial at Riverview Cemetery, Goshen. Hutchinson, 92, of 569 S. Pike St., Shinnston, went to be with her Lord on February 13, 2009, at her residence following a brief illness. She was born June 11, 1916, in Meadowbrook, a daughter of the late John and Cora Ellen Murphy Powell. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Robert “Lefty” Hutchinson, whom she married April 15, 1946, and who died January 2, 1992; five sisters; and three brothers. She has one surviving sister, Loretta Jarvis of Rt. 3, Clarksburg; 1 daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Mel Martin of Yorktown, VA; and several nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved. She was proud of her grandchildren, including Philip and Angie Martin of Route 2, Bridgeport, Melanie and Victor Anton of Yorktown, VA, and Nathan Robert Martin of Yorktown, VA. “Mammaw,” as she was called, had 5 great-grandchildren, Justin and Katie Martin, Bridgeport, and Deanna, David and Steven Anton of Yorktown. They were her joy. “Venie” was loved by all who knew her. She was a lifelong member of the Hepzibah Baptist Church, where she served as youth advisor, Sunday School teacher and had a passion for missions. Alvenia was a 1935 graduate of Victory High School and loved going to her reunions. She served her country during World War II with the United States Army, Women’s Army Corps (WAC). For 26 years, she served her community at the Shinnston Post Office. She was also a member of the Women’s Club of Shinnston and the Order of the Eastern Star. She will be greatly missed, as she made this world a much better place. “Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven.” Matthew 5:12. Interment will be in the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery, where full military graveside rites will be accorded. on February 15, 2009.⁴
