He was born in North Garden, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father, William Ira Wheeler Sr; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. His mother, Mabel Inez Powell Leake; aunts, Marie W. Thomas and Ethel D. Powell; and an uncle, Wilbur Thomas, survive him. In addition he is survived by his long time friend, Sally Ricker, of Alexandria and her family, Cindy Cunningham of Potomac, Maryland, Susan Gilmore of Annandale, Virginia and Victoria Cannata of Los Vegas, Nevada. Bill was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force. He was employed until retirement for the Bakery and Confectionary Union in Alexandria. He was a member of the Downtown Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia. There will be a graveside funeral at Riverview Cemetery at 11 a.m. Wednesday July 18, 2007, with the Reverend Robert Wheeler officiating. on July 17, 2007.⁵

She was born in Norfolk, Va., a daughter of the late Rev. Charles E. and Kitty Roop Hall. She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Bennett and Arthur Hall, and a sister, Margaret Reed. She is survived by three children, Curtis Lutz and his wife, Mary of Fayetteville, N.C., Wesley Lutz of Roanoke, Va., and Debbie Carrols and her husband, Denny of St. Louis, Mo; her special companion, Richard Boyd; one brother, Walter Hall and his wife, Gayle, of Christiansburg, Va; three sisters, Jeannette Martin and her husband, Bob of West Point, Ind., Anita Marsh and her husband, Les of Riner and Louise Myers of Christiansburg; six grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. on May 29, 1998.⁴
