     Dr. James Edward Jones Sr. was buried at Sunset Cemetery, Clinton, Anderson Co., Tennessee.3 He Dr. James Edward Jones Sr., 88, died Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, at his home in Clinton.He was born April 20, 1917, in the Edgemoor Community of Anderson County, to John and Sally Jones.He graduated from Clinton High School and the University of Tennessee School of Dentistry in Memphis. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged with the rank of major after the war. He began a successful dental practice in Clinton in 1946; the practice spanned almost 30 years. He was also a farmer, a real estate developer, and a banker, serving as president of First National Bank. He was a founder of First Federal Savings and Loan in Oak Ridge. Dr. Jones dedicated much of his time and energy to the betterment of his community. He served as chairman of the Clinton Board of Education, president and regional governor of the Clinton Civitan Club, and chairman of the Melton Hill Regional Industrial Development Board. He was "drafted" as mayor of Clinton on two different occasions and served two terms. He served many years on the Clinton Utility Board and served as its chairman many of those years. Dr. Jones had been a member of Memorial United Methodist Church in Clinton since 1947. The late Horace V. Wells Sr., editor emeritus of the Clinton Courier News, saluted Dr. Jones as "Clinton's Outstanding Citizen" of his era. Dr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 53 years, Cecil Nickles Jones; two sons, David Boyd Jones and Glenn C. Jones; a grandson, David Edward Jones; and by a sister, Clarice Jones Brittain. Dr. Jones is survived by his sons, James E. Jones Jr. of Clinton, John N. Jones and wife, Kathleen, of Clinton; grandchildren, Steve Jones and wife, Jamie, Richard Jones and wife, Nancy, Scott Jones and wife, Robyn, Carrie Jones, the Rev. Dr. Jones is also survived by his sisters, Anna Ruth Offutt, Sally Jean Porter, Beth Hewgley, Mary Evelyn Snodgrass and husband, Tom; and by several nieces and nephews and special friends. Clyde Richard Wyrick Jr. (Rick), age 81, of Knoxville passed away Wednesday morning, May 5, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Rick was a graduate of Powell High School, class of 1958 and a graduate of Knoxville Business College. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was retired from Norfolk Southern Railway after 27 years of service. Rick was a loving husband, father, papaw, uncle, and dear friend to many. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and hunter. He loved vacationing at the beach and he had a tremendous passion for the Great Smokey Mountains. He and his wife visited Cades Cove frequently. Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Wyrick Sr. and Geneva Lee Wyrick Warwick; three sisters, Ruth Wyrick Tolson; Lena Mae Wyrick Watson; and Mildred Louise Hawkins. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years. June B. Wyrick; son, Rick Wyrick; daughter and son-in-law, Traci and Keith Thomas; grandchildren, Bryan (Ellen) Maner and Baylee Maner; great grandchildren, Ellis and Landry Maner; several loving nieces and nephews.
