Evans died on September 16, 1953 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 62; Died in a mining accident.^1,2,5,3 He Last rites for Jess Evans, 62 of Boissevain, Va., who died at Bluefield Sanitarium Wednesday night, will be held at the Baptist Church, Boissevain, Saturday at 2 p.m. The Rev. David Pruitt will officiate. Internment will be in Woodland Cemetery with American Legion Post No. 14, Pocahontas, in charge of graveside rights. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three children, Ernest with the U. S. Air Force in England, Bamford, at Sampson Air Force Base in New York, and Jack of Boissevain; two sisters, Mrs. Emily Parcel of Stralee and Mrs. Elizabeth Keesee of Keystone. Pallbears will be Greg Harmon, Irvin Thompson, Leonard Lawson, Roosevelt Murray, M. B. Mangus, O. E. Mangus, W. H. Saunders and Harry Hess. on September 18, 1953.³

     Ernest Kirlwood Evans was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell, Mercer Co., West Virginia.^5,6 He was born on November 19, 1921 at McComas, Mercer Co., West Virginia.² He married Eleanor Maxine Davis on October 28, 1944 at Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.^3,4,6 Ernest Kirlwood Evans died on July 11, 1973 at Bluefield, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 51.^4,6 He Ernest Kirkwood Evans, 51, of 1220 View Ave. Bluefield, died Wednesday in a Bluefield hospital following a brief illness. He was born at McComas, a son of Mrs. Beulah and the late Jess Evans. He had been a resident of Bluefield for the past eight years. He was retired from the U. S. Air Force, where he held the rank of staff sergeant. Three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. Survivors in addition to his mother, are his widow, Maxine Davis Evans of Bluefield; three sons, Robert Evans of Orlando, Fla., and Ernest Evans Jr. and James Evans, both of Bluefield; three daughters, Sharon Demetree of Orlando, Fla., Carol Evans and Patricia Evans, both of Bluefield; and two grandchildren. Entombment will be at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Military graveside rites will lie conducted at the cemetery. on July 13, 1973.⁶

     Bamford Massey Evans was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell, Mercer Co., West Virginia.^8,4,3 He and Betty Renee Yates were divorced.³ Bamford Massey Evans was born on February 14, 1926 at Amonate, Tazewell Co., Virginia.^3,4,5 He married Betty Renee Yates on June 5, 1948 at Mercer Co., West Virginia.⁹ Bamford Massey Evans died on November 6, 1969 at Pocahontas, Tazewell Co., Virginia, at age 43; Hung himself in the city jail.^3,4

     Jack Blake Evans was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell, Mercer Co., West Virginia.^4,5 He was born on September 23, 1928 at West Virginia.^1,4 He died on July 4, 1964 at age 35.^4,5 He Funeral services for Jack Blake Evans, 35, of Boissevain, Va., who was killed Saturday night in a traffic accident, will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Boissevain Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Cook officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Surviving Evans are his mother, Mrs. Beulah Evans of Boissevain; two brothers, Ernest Evans of San Antonio, Tex., and Bamford Evans of Baltimore, Md. Pallbearers will be Oakey Johnson, David Johnson, Billy and Elwood Poseno, Roger Smith and W. H. Sayers. on July 7, 1964.⁵

Evans and Mary Beulah Gearheart, on October 28, 1944 at Pearisburg, Giles Co., Virginia.^1,5,6 Eleanor Maxine Davis died on April 3, 2001 at Orlando, Orange Co., Florida, at age 75.^2,3 She Eleanor M. Evans, 75, Custer Circle, Orlando, died Tuesday, April 3. Mrs. Evans was a secretary. Born in Matoaka, W.Va., she moved to Central Florida in 1978. She was Methodist.      Betty Renee Yates and Bamford Massey Evans were divorced.³ Betty Renee Yates was buried at Leftwich Cemetery, Huddleston, Bedford Co., Virginia.⁴ Her Social Security Number was 232-34-1236.⁵ She was born on December 20, 1927 at Ennis, McDowell Co., West Virginia.^1,2,5 As of June 5, 1948,her married name was Evans.¹ She married Bamford Massey Evans, son of Jess E. Evans and Mary Beulah Gearheart, on June 5, 1948 at Mercer Co., West Virginia.¹ Betty Renee Yates died on May 8, 2003 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 75.^2,5,3 She Betty Yates Leftwich, 75, of Bedford, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2003 in Carilion Roanoke Community Hospital. She was born December 20, 1927 in West Virginia, a daughter of the late Arthur Yates and Matilda Holloway Yates.
Mrs. Leftwich is survived by he husband, Claude Odell Leftwich, II; three children, Randy Evans of Roanoke, Christi Towles and her husband, Jim of Forest and Odell Leftwich and his wife, Raeann of Kalamazoo, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Evans and his wife, Tonya, April Chambers and her husband, Eddie, Evan Towels, Ben Leftwich, Calla Leftwich, Spencer Leftwich and Dillon Leftwich; four great-grandchildren, Hannah Evans, Daniel Chambers, Manning Chambers and Kandice Alderman; a brother, Emmitt Yates of Austin, TX; special nieces, Etta Newcomb, Margaret Miller and Sarah Mitchell; and a special nephew, Luther Lemon, Jr. on May 10, 2003.²

     Robert Jasper Nicewander was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell, Mercer Co., West Virginia.^3,7,5 His Social Security Number was 236-46-2076.⁶ He was born on March 31, 1930 at McComas, Mercer Co., West Virginia.^1,3,7,5,6 He married Jetty Mae Gearheart, daughter of William Van Gearheart and Elizabeth Marie "Lizzy" Rose, on October 15, 1953 at Tazewell, Tazewell Co., Virginia.^1,2,5,8 Robert Jasper Nicewander died on August 11, 2001 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 71.^3,7,9,5,6 He BLUEFIELD - Robert J. Nicewander, 71, of Route 3 Box 613 (Lorton Lick Road), Bluefield, died on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001 in a Roanoke, Va. hospital. Born March 31, 1930, in McComas, he was a son of the late Gertrude Thomas. He was a loving and devoted husband, dad, and granddad. He had been a resident of Lorton Lick Road for 10 years and was retired from Joanna Western Mills in Chicago as a machine foreman. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict where he served in the U.S. Army. He had been an avid bowler for the past 10 years at both Mountaineer and Green Valley Bowling Lanes. Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Thomas. Survivors include his wife, Jettie M. Gearheart Nicewander of the home; two daughters, Wanda Nicewonder and husband, Bill of Carol Stream, Ill. and Cindi Gaughan and husband, Dave of Lake Station, Ind; three sons, Robert E. Nicewander and wife, Ina of Las Vegas, Nev., Daniel Nicewander and wife, Diana of Chicago, Ill., and Michael Nicewander of the home; one sister, Nancy Thomas Hatley of California; one brother, Daniel Thomas of Chicago; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Military graveside honors will be performed by the Big Sandy District American Legion Post #175 and the Mercer County Veterans Council. on August 14, 2001.⁵

     Eleanor Mae Wiggins was buried at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, New Castle Co., Delaware.² She was born on September 24, 1933.³ As of circa 1957,her married name was Gearheart.¹ She married James Edward Gearheart Sr., son of William Van Gearheart and Elizabeth Marie "Lizzy" Rose, circa 1957.¹ Eleanor Mae Wiggins died on December 5, 2011 at New Castle, New Castle Co., Delaware, at age 78.² She Eleanor Mae Gearheart, age 78, of New Castle, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 5, 2011. Mrs. Gearheart enjoyed going out for dinner, baking, annually attending family reunions, and she was an avid fan of wrestling. She was a loving homemaker and was thankful for every day she had with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Gearheart is survived by her sons, James E. Gearheart, Jr., and Kenneth W. Gearheart and wife Carol; daughter, Diana Gearheart-Parris and husband Jeffery; loving grandchildren: Laura M. Gearheart, Mason K. Gearheart, Dylan James Parris; step-grandson, Billy Miller; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James E. Gearheart Sr; and her brothers and sisters. A service in celebration of Eleanor's life will begin at 10:30 am followed by burial in Gracelawn Memorial Park in New Castle. on December 7, 2011.²
