Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brosh Chapel in Solon, where there will be a 7 p.m. parish vigil. Jim was born June 26, 1936, in Des Moines, the son of James and Gladys (Mayland) Washburn. He married Bonnie Keith on Feb. 14, 1963, in Iowa City. He served in the United States Army. Jim worked for the Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Co. (MidAmerican Energy) in Iowa City for over 34 years as a meter reader until retiring in 1995; tie was also a part time city clerk in Solon for 10 years. Jim was a member of the Solon American Legion, as well as St. Mary's Catholic Church, Jim had a genuine love of sports, sports trivia, NASCAR, and country music. He especially enjoyed college and pro-foot ball season making his team picks with his son, Jim, and watching the Hawkeyes, Iowa women's basketball and the Solon Spartans. He loved spending time with his daughter, Lisa, and her husband, Jerry, and watching his granddaughters participate in their school sports and activities. He was a proud Dad and Grandpa. He treasured the time with his loving wife, Bonnie, as they traveled and attended country and western music events together. Jim's warm smile, kind heart and generous nature will be greatly missed by those who loved him. Jim is survived by his wife, Bonnie; children, Lisa (Jerry) Kramer of Solon and Jim Washburn of North Liberty; three grandchildren, Lindsey, Karly and Hannah; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Washburn of Sturbridge, Mass. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard; and his parents. on October 4, 2010.3

He served in the Navy from 1959 to 1962, and worked at Sylvania-GTE-General Dynamics for 33 years as an electronics engineer. In retirement, Dick enjoyed working in his yard. He also had his own chair at the Sturbridge Antique Store, where he was always happy to wait on customers. He enjoyed being around people, and was thrilled that so many came to be at his bedside to wish him farewell. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. on May 22, 2010.3

A graduate of Sigourney High School, he served with the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the carrier Bunker Hill. Don retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1986. Surviving are three daughters, Donna (Allen) Jordan of Oskaloosa, Deanne Fear of Ottumwa and Debbie (Don) Henry of Johnston; five grandchildren, Allene Pushor, Melinda (Mike) Connell, Denise (Brian) Kitzman, Emma Henry and Sarah Henry; six great-grandchildren, Megan Pushor, Melanie Pushor, Madison Connell, Hazel Kitzman, Zachary Kitzman and Cayle Kitzman; a great-great-granddaughter, Brooklynn; a half brother, Doug (Donna) Fear of Jefferson City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Pennington Cemetery in Sigourney. on May 21, 2014.4 He died on May 21, 2014 at Oskaloosa, Mahaska Co., Iowa, at age 93.4

He was born Feb. 13, 1944, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of the late Dea Fear and Wanda (Seley) Castor. On April 15, 1966, he married Donna Van Osdol who survives at the home. Doug joined the Marine Corps on April 21, 1961, at the age of 17, and served until March 11, 1965. He served overseas throughout numerous places including Philippines, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam and Okinawa. He received medals for Pistol Expert, Good Conduct Medal, M-14 Marksmanship Badge and Armed Forced Expeditionary Medal. He worked his whole life as a car salesman, sales manager and later he became owner of his own business, Doug's Blvd. Motors. He is survived by his wife, Donna Fear, of Jefferson City; a daughter, Dawn (Robert) Hake, of Jefferson City; a son, Douglas Fear Jr., of Jefferson City; five grandchildren, Ashley (Jake) Heatherly, Jessica (Chris) Bruemmer, Ryan Hake, Madison Fear and Jordyn Fear; two great-grandchildren, Jade Heatherly and Landon Bruemmer; one sister, Lindola Jennings, of Des Moines, Iowa; one brother, Richard (Sandy) Fear, of Racine, Wis; a motherin- law, Dordan Van Osdol, of Jefferson City; one brother-in-law, Doyle (Carol) Van Osdol, of Jefferson City; and two sisters-in-law, Denise (Dale) Taylor, of Jefferson City, and Debbie (Terry) Loper, of Plattsmouth, Neb. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Castor; his father, Dea Fear; two sisters, Inace Miller and Tycene Sargent; two brothers, Ray Dudley and Donald Fear; and a brother-in-law, Dwayne Van Osdol. Visitation will be 10 a.m.-noon Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, at Dulle- Trimble Funeral Home. Military honors will be provided at the conclusion of the visitation. on November 28, 2015.3
