Mary Margaret Saunders was buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia.2,3 She was born on March 31, 1941 at Pettry, Mercer Co., West Virginia.2 As of February 4, 1959,her married name was Via.1 She married James Calvin Via Sr., son of James William "Bill" Via and Mary Ella LaFon, on February 4, 1959 at Narrows, Giles Co., Virginia.1,2 Mary Margaret Saunders died on November 26, 2013 at Princeton, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 72.2 She PRINCETON - Mary Margaret Hyden, 72, of the Oakvale Road, Princeton, died early Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at her residence. Born March 31, 1941, at Pettry, she was the daughter of the late James Saunders and Virginia Jones Saunders. She attended Athens High School, Margaret was a devoted mother, grandmother and sister. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James C. Via Sr., along with three children; Kathy Via Newkirk, Terry Hyden and Infant son Jerry Hyden, also, two brothers, Robert Saunders and Ralph Saunders. Survivors include her two children, Jim C. Via and wife Angelica of Dublin, OH, Ronda Via White and husband Larry of Church Hill, TN; six grandchildren, Adam Lee and Catherine White, Lindsey White, Laura and Zach Weisenegger, Heather Newkirk, Jesse Via, Jeremy Via; three great grandchildren, Cooper White, Stella White and Henley Starnes; siblings, Mae Meadows of Paint Bank, VA, Betty Carrico, Alice and Jerry Cecil all of Princeton, Shirley and Dick Erskine of Bluefield VA; former husband, Eugene Hyden of FL; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend, Tammy Lucas. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, November 30, 2013 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Ray Stonestreet officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Princeton. Friends may visit with the family Saturday from Noon until the service hour. Serving as pallbearers will be David and Rick Carrico, Rodney Cecil, Gale Meadows, Richard Erskine and Bobby Saunders. on November 29, 2013.2

Ray St., Fort Meade, formerly of Princeton, died Sunday, April 26, 1998, at the Laurel Regional Medical Center, Laurel, Md. Born Aug. 25, 1961, at Bluefield, she was the daughter of Mary Margaret Saunders Via Hyden of Princeton and the late James Calvin Via. She was a graduate of Princeton High School Class of 1979 and attended Bluefield State College. She was a devoted wife and mother. Survivors include her husband, Joseph E. Newkirk of Fort Meade; two daughters, Laura Leigh and Heather Nicole Newkirk both of the home; one sister, Ronda Via White and her husband, Larry, of Church Hill, Tenn; two brothers, James C. Via and his wife, Angelica, of New Martinsvile, and Terry Hyden and his wife, Tonya, of Plymouth, Fla; her second father, Eugene B. Hyden and his wife, Patricia, of Roseland, Fla; grandmother, Virginia Saunders of Princeton; many special aunts, uncles and cousins. Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on Athens Road in Princeton with Larry Ramey as the speaker. Graveside services will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Princeton. on April 28, 1998.3

Pettrey, 75, of Chesapeake, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2020. Born Princeton, WV, he was the son of the late Willie Mae Presley and Paul M. Presley. Johnny retired from the Chesapeake Police Department as a Detective Sergeant, after 29 years of service. Johnny enjoyed playing cards and going to gun shows. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Survivors include his wife, Linda; a son, Johnny Ray Pettrey (Sabrina); a grandson, Kevin R. Pettrey (Lauren), and a great-grandson, Reese. on January 16, 2020.1
