Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Irene Moran Martin; two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Gene Ratliff, of Roanoke and Donna and Jonny Fuller, of Boones Mill; two granddaughters, Debra Ratliff Houston and husband, Ron and Crystal Beggs Royall; two grandsons, Mark Ratliff and wife, Suzanne and Travis Beggs and wife, Sheila; six great grandchildren, Tyler Cameron Wilson, Neil and Sam Houston, Scott Ratliff, and Ashton and Josiah Pas; two sisters, Gladys Hill, of Roanoke and Lillie Mae (Lewis) Keatts, of Rocky Mount; a brother, Herman Martin, of Danville; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 4502 Starkey Rd., Suite 2, Roanoke, VA 24014. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014, at Oakey's North Chapel. Dr. Darryl G. Crim will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on March 30, 2014.6

She was a devoted Christian woman, and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved cooking and sewing for her family and friends. She was a leader in her church and always willing to help those in need. Gladys was a charter member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Radford and a current member of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Roanoke. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Junior Hill, parents Charlie and Pearl Martin, brother Bill "Huford" Martin, and sisters, Juanita Mitchell and Louise Jenkins. She is survived by her sister, Lillie Mae (Lewis) Keats; brother, Herman Martin; brothers-in-law, Buddy Hill and Harry Austin; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Richard Robinson; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Judy Hill; five grandchildren, Allen (Kim) Robinson, Angela (Ike) Katsilianos, Dawn (Michael) Jones, Keith (Kirsten) Robinson, and Brian (Donna) Hill; and seven great-grandchildren, Jon, Kymbre, Gavin, and Graeme Robinson, Alex Katsilianos, and Karsten and Reese Hill. The family would like to thank the staff of South Roanoke Nursing Home and Spring Tree Rehab for their loving care of Gladys these past few months of her life. A Celebration of Gladys's life will be held at noon on Monday, September 8, 2014, at the Oakey's East Chapel, 5188 Cloverdale Road, Roanoke with the Rev. M. Brian Swafford and Rev. Earl Clemons officiating. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on September 7, 2014.5

The Funeral Service will be held at noon on Friday, July 30, 2010, in the Roanoke Chapel of Lotz Funeral Home with the Rev. Sammy Caldwell officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on July 30, 2010.5

She was born on May 26, 1929, in Pelham, NC, to the late Charlie M. Bryant and Annie Talbott Bryant. Mrs. Martin was a graduate of Brosville High School and had worked at Dan River Mills for 47 years. She was a member of Welcome Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. She lived in the Brosville community before moving to the Westover community in 1961. Mrs. Martin was married to Herman Martin on August 7, 1948. She is survived by her husband Herman Martin of the residence; one daughter: Wanda Billings, of Danville, VA; two sons: Michael Martin, of Chattanooga, Tenn. and Ronald Martin, of Danville, VA; two brothers: Gerald Bryant and Walter Bryant, of Danville, VA; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by two sisters: Evelyn Newton and Judy Harris; and three brothers: Charlie Bryant, Jr., Neal Bryant, and Bobby Bryant. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at 2p.m. at Swicegood Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Hussey officiating. "Pearlie" Guilliams, on February 4, 1944 at Floyd Co., Virginia.1,4,5 Julia Irene Moran died on May 12, 2016 at Roanoke Co., Virginia, at age 94.4 She Irene Moran Martin, 94, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Martin; sister, Dorothy DeWitt; brother, Melvin Moran; and son-in-law, Gene Ratliff. She attended North Roanoke Baptist Church and was a Hostess for Oakey's North Chapel. She is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Darlene Ratliff of Roanoke, and Donna and Jonny Fuller of Boones Mill; two granddaughters, Debra Ratliff Houston and husband, Ron, and Crystal Wilson Royall; two grandsons, Mark Ratliff and wife, Suzanne, and Travis Beggs and wife, Sheila; six great-grandsons, PFC Tyler Wilson, Brayden Beggs, Neil and Sam Houston, Scott Ratliff and Josiah Pas; one great-granddaughter, Ashton Pas; and one sister, Audrey Franklin of Roanoke. Special thanks to Crystal Royall for taking such good care of her grandma. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016, at Oakey's North Chapel with The Rev. Dr. Darryl G. Crim officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. on May 15, 2016.4
