Grubb; and sister-in-law, Sylvia G. Grant. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 43 years, Glenda G. Patsel; son, Carsone R. "Trey" Patsel III (Amanda); grandson, Liam Scott Patsel; father, Carsone R. Patsel; brother, Lucky Patsel (Betty); nephew, Christopher Patsel; beloved furry friend, Sadie; and best friend, Randy Ensor. Bennie, also referred to by friends and family as Randy, retired from Sheet Metal Local 100 after many years as a sheet metal mechanic. His favorite pastime was riding and working on his Harley-Davidson. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Oakey's South Chapel. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at the funeral home with Pastor Sam Belisle officiating. Interment will follow in Copper Hill Cemetery. on April 16, 2021.5

He was born March 6, 1939, a son of the late Rufus Alfred Cooper and Elmetta Kingery Cooper. As a young man, Hal worked for International Harvester Co., and in more recent years, he owned and operated J&B Supply Co., where he gained his reputation as an expert automobile parts supplier. Hal was blessed with a great personality; he never met a stranger and he was always willing to lend a helping hand or share his knowledge of the automobile industry. Hal was a devoted son to his late parents, and a loving husband, father, and grandfather, as well as a close friend to many. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 44 years, Leilani Leffell Cooper; his daughter, Leilani Lynn Epperly; his son, David Jerome Cooper and his wife, Denise Ferrell Cooper, all of Roanoke; his sister, Patricia Cooper Jefferies and husband, Robert, of Vinton; his brother, Carlton Swain Cooper of Hardy; his grandchildren, Cameron David Cooper, Benjamin Henry Damewood, Julieanne and Christie Lynn Epperly and their father, Steven Warren Epperly; and a host of other relatives and friends including a very special relative and dear friend, Evangeline Short Hall. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. on October 31, 2004.4

     Carlton Swain Cooper Sr. was buried at Halesford Baptist Church Cemetery, Burnt Chimney, Franklin Co., Virginia.5 He Carlton S. Cooper, Sr., age 80, of Moneta passed away peacefully from his earthly home to his heavenly mansion on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born on November 24, 1943 to the late Rufus Alfred and Elmetta Maranda Cooper. In addition to his parents, Carlton was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Hal and Leilani Cooper, and brother-in-law, Robert Jeffries. Carlton was a dedicated heating and air conditioning mechanic for over 50 years, owning Cooper Heating and Air Conditioning since 1974. He was known for his dedication to his craft, unfaltering work ethic and for the many friendships he acquired over the years. Carlton was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather and caregiver as well as kind, witty and thoughtful. He never quit being a kid and loved making people smile and laugh. He never met a stranger and was definitely one of a kind. Carlton was a member of Halesford Baptist Church. He was a great neighbor who valued his community. He was first to lend a helping hand to family, friends, or any neighbors who needed it. His Christian faith was strong, no matter the challenges he faced. Carlton was interested in riding the road while looking for bargains, traveling to the beach, thrift shopping and helping others out. He considered himself a jack-of-all trades and was always tinkering with something. Carlton is survived by five beloved children: sons; Carlton S. Cooper, Jr., (Dana), Chris Cooper (Sandy) and Dennis Cooper (Kelli); daughters, Myrandi Cooper and Lorrie Cooper (Dooley Thompson); grandsons, Justin Cooper (Chasity), Jacob Cooper, Joshua Cooper, Kolton Cooper and Dawson Cooper; granddaughters, Amanda Wiseman (Ethen) and Kylie Cooper; great-grandchildren, Mikayla Wiseman, Belle Wiseman, Westin Cooper and Rylee Cooper. Also surviving is his sister, “Sissy” Pat Jeffries and special friends, Lacy Cundiff and Diane Cooper, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his most beloved fur-baby and traveling companion, “Chew”. Funeral services will be held at Halesford Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to send special thanks to Carilion Roanoke Memorial and 9 South ICU for their excellent support and care during the last few weeks.5 He married Diane Iris McGuire.6 Carlton Swain Cooper Sr. was born on November 24, 1943 at Roanoke Co., Virginia.3,5 He and Diane Iris McGuire were divorced on March 12, 1966 at Franklin Co., Virginia.4 Carlton Swain Cooper Sr. died on September 11, 2024 at Roanoke, Virginia, at age 80.5
