He married Luene Leverett on Aug. 22, 1964, in Duke, Okla., and enjoyed 45 years of constant companionship, love, friendship and fun. His generosity and love of life will be missed by all who knew him. It was recently said that Butch left a "wake of people" behind him wherever he went. Truly, many people have been influenced by his example and strong commitment to God. Butch attended schools in Amarillo and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1964. In 1968, he received a B.S. degree in biology and plant science from West Texas State University. He joined the master's research program at Texas Tech University in Lubbock in Agriculture Economics in 1971 and then again received his Smith Hughes Certification in agriculture education in 1978. He was a self-taught computer programmer and an avid reader. He loved Oklahoma University football and the Dallas Cowboys. Marvin has worn many hats in his career, but teaching was a natural for him. He taught vocational agriculture in Reydon and Hobart, Okla. He was the high school principal and science teacher at Duke, and he taught biology at Palo Duro High School. At the time of his death, he was instructing agriculture science and horticulture at Hereford Junior High. His entire life was spent "collecting" and educating kids. Butch attended and participated in the kids ministry at Citychurch, Amarillo where his brother, the late Don Lane, began the awesome task of tending to the needy children of Amarillo. He was proceeded in death by his parents, J.D. and Jean Lane; and his brother, Don Lane. Survivors include his wife, Luene; three sons, Marty Lane and fiancee Lisa of Houston, Matt Lane and wife Nancy of Flower Mound and Marcus Lane and wife Angie of Canyon; a daughter, Lori Belott and husband Richard of Canyon; 11 grandchildren, Mason Lane, Madison Lane, Landi Lane, Lexi Lane, McCrae Lane, Wylee Lane, Brett Strange, Krista Strange, Shelbie Strange, Katie Belott and Wyatt Belott; two brothers, Jim Lane and Dale Lane, both of Amarillo; as well as, a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews and a "herd of strays." on January 22, 2010.2
