He was the son of the late Bert and Dessie Larch Smith. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Smith; and brother, Gene Smith. Tom attended Jordan Mound Church. He loved to hunt and fish. He worked with Vecellio and Grogan Construction Company and helped build the bridges in the Elkview and Clendenin area on I-79. He was also a carpenter and set mobile homes throughout the State of WV. He is survived by: daughter, Amanda Lee Wagner; sons, Tommy Wayne Smith II and David Smith; brothers, Roger, Ron, Don and Dan Smith; sisters, Mary Hardway and Janette Hardway; grandchildren, Ryan and Jason. Nutter of Anstead and Buck Nutter of Altaloma, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Julia Bragg of Anstead and Mrs. Nancy Cotter of Corpus Christi, Texas; and 14 grandchildren. on January 28, 1979.⁴
