In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garfield W. Stewart in 2000; and two brothers, Earl Mathena and Ray Mathena. Survivors include two stepdaughters, Patricia Bresnock and her husband Cyrus of Marriottsville, Md. and Carol Roark and her husband Charles of Athens; six step grandchildren; 10 step great-grandchildren; and her friend and caregiver, Cecilia Sampson. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. on July 16, 2004.1

Cyrus Joseph Bresnock Cyrus Joseph Bresnock, 91, of Marriottsville, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at home. He was born on October 17, 1932, in Sagamore, PA to the late Joseph Bresnock and Gladys Barrett Bresnock. He was also predeceased by his stepmother, Adda Bresnock. Cy was a graduate of Dayton High School, Dayton, PA. He then served in the US Army. He continued his service with the Department of Defense where he ultimately retired. He had a love for the outdoors, hunting and farming. After his retirement he worked with his friends, the Day family working at their Farm and Home Store and making many friends along the way. He was a long time member of the Howard County Fair Board and the Livestock Sale committee. Cy was a member of St. James United Methodist Church for over 50 years, serving in many roles over the years. He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Patricia Stewart Bresnock; daughter and son-in-law Judy and Bill Arrington; son and daughter-in-law Larry and Linda Bresnock; brother Robert Bresnock; sisters Thelma Haag, Helen Moore and Nancy Rosenberger and husband, Robert; grandchildren: Travis Arrington, Amanda Martinez and husband Joel, Dustin Bresnock, Lauren Bresnock and Jennifer Arrington and great-grandchildren: Jaxon Martinez, Emerson Martinez, Charlie Arrington and Cyrus Martinez. He was predeceased by sister Betty Shannon. Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery, Marriottsville, MD.3 He was buried at Mountain View Cemetery, 2150 Mt.
