Charles Scragg and the Rev. Frank L. Shaffer officiating. Burial will be in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Home, Fayetteville, and one hour prior to service at the church. Mooney, 85, of St. Albans departed this life on Thursday, January 8, 2009, after a long illness. She was born December 16, 1923, to Myrtle Katherine and George Lewis Elmore. Gertrude was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Mooney; and daughter, Judy Ann Mullins. Surviving are two sons, Woodrow Mooney of South Charleston and Marvin Mooney and wife, Phyllis, of Roanoke, Va; and three daughters, Christina Groff and husband, Wallace, of Yemassee, S.C., Sheirlein Good of Dutch Ridge and Mary McClanahan and husband, Joseph, of Hurricane. She leaves behind eight grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Floyd Elmore of Pinch; and one sister, Cynthia Mace of Birch River. Service will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 12, at Hafer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Pauley officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
