Mr. Browning was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a retired coal miner with 40 years of service. He could play any kind of musical instrument and performed on Hee Haw in the 1960's. He also played on a recording with the Davis Sisters. He was a member of the Church of Lord Jesus in Matoaka.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Shirley Cecil Browning in 2008; one son, William Gregory Browning; one sister, Diana Browning; and two brothers, Curtis Browning and Lloyd Browning.Survivors include one daughter, Cindy Browning of Matoaka; two sons, Gratton Browning and his fiancé Melanie Foley and Victor Browning, all of Matoaka; three sisters, Trudy Cornish and her husband Don of Florida, Ellen Reese and her husband Dick of Princeton and Ann Dudley and her husband Robert of North Carolina; four brothers, Darrell Browning and his wife Faye of Ohio, Paul Browning and his wife Carolyn of Princeton, Walter Browning and his wife Anita of Princeton and Fred Browning and his wife Edna of Lashmeet; eight grandchildren, Greg, Jason, Kendra, Jacklyn, Brandon, Joey, Savannah and Jada; four great-grandchildren, Maddy, Nicholas, Lexi and Maddy; and four others he thought of as his own, Ronnie Hart, Carolyn Billings, Stephanie Graham and Mandy Browning.Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Marvin McKinney officiating. Diana Mae Browning was buried at Burton Cemetery, Widemouth, Mercer Co., West Virginia.3,4 She was born on April 27, 1932 at Widemouth, Mercer Co., West Virginia.3,4 She died on March 2, 1948 at Giatto, Mercer Co., West Virginia, at age 15.3,4 She Sixteen-year-old Diana Mae Browning of Giatto, died unexpectedly of a heart attack while eating breakfast at her home at 6:30 o'clock yesterday morning. The girl, a student in the ninth grade at Matoaka Junior High school, had attended school Monday, and never complained of feeling ill. She was born April 27, 1932, at Widemouth, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Browning, who survive. Also surviving are seven brothers: Lloyd, Roy, Jr., Daryl, Curtis, Walter, Paul, and Frederick; and one sister, Gertrude. The father Is employed by the American Coal company at McComas. The body was removed to the Bailey Funeral chapel at Matoaka where it will remain pending funeral services. The rites will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at Giatto, the church to be announced later. Mrs. Effie Gilmer, minister of Pearisburg, Va., will be in charge. Burial will be in Burton cemetery at Widemouth. Pallbearers will be: Charlie Mills, Spencer Elledge, Lacy Carden, Robert McKinney and Joe and Paul Deaton. on March 3, 1948.4

He retired from Conn-Weld Industries in September 2007. He enjoyed reading his Bible and working in his flower garden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Diana Browning; a brother, Curtis Browning; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Browning. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Browning of Pensacola, Fla. and Jeffrey Browning of Dixon, Mo; one daughter, Kathy Pancio and her husband Alan of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Samuel Browning, Jeffrey Browning and Alaina Pancio; five brothers, Junior Browning of Matoaka, Darryl Browning and his wife Fay of Belleville, Ohio, Walter Browning and his wife Anita, and Paul Browning and his wife Michele, all of Princeton, and Fred Browning and his wife Edna of Lashmeet; three sisters, Trudy Cornish and her husband Don of Punta Gorda, Fla., Ann Dudley and her husband Robert of Winston-Salem, N.C. and Ellen Reece and her husband Dick of Princeton; a sister-in-law, JoAnne Browning of Lakeland, Fla; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the Rowland H. Bailey Funeral Chapel of the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Fred Browning officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where military rites will be conducted by the Mercer County Veterans Council and the WV National Guard Honor Guard. Serving as pallbearers will be Gratton Browning, Victor Browning, Kevin Browning, Chris Browning, Anthony Hubbard and Chris Lewis.
